AGRICULTURAL HYDROPOWER WORKSHOP Electrical Interconnection Holy Cross Energy May 29, 2014 Presented By: Diana Golis Location Service Territory Holy Cross Energy • Formed in 1939 (75 year anniversary meeting on June 7, 2014) • Distribution, Transmission, and Generation cooperative • Power Purchased from: • Public Service Company of Colorado • WAPA (Hydro) • Local Renewables • Goal 2004 – 20% Renewables in 2015 (met in 2014) • Goal 2014 – 30% Renewables in 2020, 35% in 2025; if reasonable given contractual and economic limitations Renewable Generation • • • • • • 10 MW woody biomass plant - Gypsum 3 MW methane plant (vented coal mine methane) 1 MW commercial solar 900 kW of community solar gardens – 2 sites 6 small hydro systems, 229 kW 2,685 kW net metered (since 1998) • 425 systems: PV, Wind & hydro How Did We Get Here • Power Supply Contract with Xcel Energy (Public Service Company of Colorado) allows for Qualifying Facilities within our service territory • Per Consumers direction - WE CARE funding from 2% of sales • Local Renewable Energy and Wind Energy Pools • Net Generation • Strong Rebate and Incentive programs • Hydro Generation tariff 2012 • Added Solar Generation in 2013 • Pending Approval for Generation Tariff with Contract Renewable Generation Net Metering – Tariff Sheet 29 – Annual true up • Individual Locations – 120% of annual load • Solar 500 kW size limit • All others 50 kW size limit • Credit based on consumer’s retail rate Generation – Tariff Sheet 29.1- Monthly payments • Individual Locations – not limited by load size • Solar 50-500 kW • Hydro 100 kW • $0.08834/kWh for 2014. Annual 2% escalation Renewable Energy Incentives REQUIREMENTS • Total System Limit for Net and Generation Services • Solar 2000 kW, Hydro 1,000 kW • System must be located within Holy Cross Energy’s service territory • Must submit a Generator Interconnect Application prior to construction by December 31, 2016 • Assign Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) to Holy Cross • Complete Installation and have Holy Cross inspection and approval Incentives • Standard Incentives 0-6 kW = $1,250/kW 6-12 kW = $1,000/kW 12-25 kW = $ 500/kW • Non-Taxable entity: • 40% of installed cost to maximum of $1,500/kW up to 25 kW http://www.holycross.com/pages/renewable-energyrebates Contacts Diana L.
