Supportability
• • • • • Review Current System Requirements – https://mbs.microsoft.com/customersource/northamerica/SL/learning/documentation/system requirements/SL2015_SystemRequirements Windows 7+, Server 2008+ SQL Server 2010+ Management Reporter CU9 or CU10 Crystal Reports 2013 – 2008 Designer still supplied
Server Install
• Server install simpler
Workstation Install
• Workstation install in root folder (not wrkstn folder)
Current Client Installs
• Determine Server and Client Installs – – – Terminal Server?
Citrix?
Multiple sets of program files?
– – Mapped Drives?
Process Manager, Application Server, Task Server, Requisition Information Agent, Communicator to Mail, EDI File Manager
Test Plan
• • What to test?
(Aside from Everything!?) – – – – – Anything Custom Transaction Imports Templates Project Series EDI/ASM
Screen Customizations
• Determine Customizations • • Use Export Customizations screen Or use SQL. Run the following against the SL System DB: (VBA) select distinct entityid, screenid, sequence from customvba (BSL) select distinct entityid, screenid, sequence from custom2
SQL Customizations
• • • • Find Custom SQL Triggers select u.name, t.name from sysobjects t inner join sysobjects u on t.parent_obj=u.id where t.type='tr' Determine if necessary Verify “set nocount on”
Custom Apps & Reports
• • Determine ISVs – – Many ISVs have already updated for 2015 Others still in process Determine custom reports – Anything in usr_rpts folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics\SL\Applications\Usr_Rpts
Screen & Report Templates
• Templates – – Many will upgrade and work OK Some will not depending on report/screen changes
