The Urban
Ministry
Institute
A ministry of World Impact
For most urban ministry,
attending college or seminary
is virtually impossible:
• Too expensive
• Too far away
• Academic requirements are too
stringent or restrictive
• Venue and content are
unrelated to urban life and
ministry
If an inner-city pastor or layman wants a theological education he or she must:
• Change cultures
• Know someone who is rich
In 1995 World Impact established The Urban Ministry Institute (TUMI)
• Affordable ministry education in their communities
We offer seminary-level instruction through 16 courses in:
• Biblical Studies
• Christian Ministry
• Theology and Ethics
• Urban Mission
Students are theologically and practically
prepared to minister among the urban poor
Harry is a former
professional boxer
who ministers to at-risk
youth affected by gang
violence
Rev. Harry Edmonson,
One of TUMI’s first graduates
“I grew in leading God’s
people and proclaiming His
Word”
Fairy Dean Anderson,

urban ministries, and prisons (U.S. and
overseas) serving over 1000 students
We supply:
• Curriculum (English and Spanish)
• Administrative support
I was equipped with practical skills as well
as adding theological depth to my
knowledge of God.
Alberto Negron, Youth Pastor

TUMI gives me the means to minister better. I’m putting
things into practice almost immediately.
Ray Moore, House Church Leader

“Every local congregation should avail themselves of this wonderful tool.”
Bishop George McKinney

“The material is simple enough to equip
someone who is functionally illiterate, but
sophisticated enough to be accepted by
King’s Seminary.”
Dr. Jack Hayford
President, The King’s Seminary
“These courses are an integral part of
our deacon and minister training
program and have greatly enhanced
the quality of our leadership.”
Rev. Lincoln E. Montgomery

Christ.”

Pastor Daniel Nunez

“We looked at many curriculums and set three criteria:
dual language, doctrinal affinity and emphasis on
justice. TUMI fit that in spades. What we didn't count
on was finding a sense of family within the network of
TUMI satellites.”
Dr. Alejandro Mandes
“The Biblical Principles and truths
are immediately transferable to our
culture. Our partnership with TUMI
is helping us advance the Kingdom
in Mexico.”
