When the prophets, Haggai the
prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo,
prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah
and Jerusalem, in the name of the God of
Israel, who was over them, 2 then
Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and
Jeshua the son of Jozadak arose and
began to rebuild the house of God which is
in Jerusalem; and the prophets of God
were with them supporting them.

Haggai 1:1
In the second year of Darius the
king, on the first day of the sixth
month, the word of the LORD came by
the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel the
son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah,
and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak,
the high priest, saying,
Haggai 1:2
Thus says the LORD of hosts,
“This people says, ‘The time has not
come, even the time for the house of
the LORD to be rebuilt.’”
Haggai 1:3-5
Then the word of the LORD came
by Haggai the prophet, saying, 4 “Is it
time for you yourselves to dwell in your
paneled houses while this house lies
desolate? 5 Now therefore, thus says
the LORD of hosts, ‘Consider your
ways!’”
Haggai 1:6
You have sown much, but harvest
little; you eat, but there is not enough
to be satisfied; you drink, but there is
not enough to become drunk; you put
on clothing, but no one is warm
enough; and he who earns, earns
wages to put into a purse with holes.
Haggai 1:7-8
Thus says the LORD of hosts,
“Consider your ways! 8 Go up to the
mountains, bring wood and rebuild the
temple, that I may be pleased with it
and be glorified,” says the LORD.
Haggai 1:9
“You look for much, but behold, it
comes to little; when you bring it home,
I blow it away. Why?” declares the
LORD of hosts, “Because of My house
which lies desolate, while each of you
runs to his own house.”
Haggai 1:10-11
“Therefore, because of you the
sky has withheld its dew and the earth
has withheld its produce. 11 I called for
a drought on the land, on the
mountains, on the grain, on the new
wine, on the oil, on what the ground
produces, on men, on cattle, and on all
the labor of your hands.”

governor of Judah, and the spirit of
Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high
priest, and the spirit of all the remnant
of the people; and they came and
worked on the house of the LORD of

Haggai 2:20-21
Then the word of the LORD came
a second time to Haggai on the twentyfourth day of the month saying, 21
“Speak to Zerubbabel governor of Judah
saying, ‘I am going to shake the
heavens and the earth.’”
Haggai 2:22
“And I will overthrow the thrones of
kingdoms and destroy the power of the
kingdoms of the nations; and I will
overthrow the chariots and their riders,
and the horses and their riders will go
down, everyone by the sword of
another.”

Jeremiah 22:24-25

Jehoiakim king of Judah were a signet

you off; 25 and I shall give you over into
the hand of those who are seeking your

you dread, even into the hand of

I saw at night, and behold, a man
was riding on a red horse, and he was
standing among the myrtle trees which
were in the ravine, with red, sorrel, and
white horses behind him.
Zechariah 1:9
Then I said, “My lord, what are
these?” And the angel who was
speaking with me said to me, “I will
show you what these are.”
Zechariah 1:10-11
And the man who was standing
among the myrtle trees answered and
said, “These are those whom the LORD
has sent to patrol the earth.”
So they answered the angel of the
LORD who was standing among the
myrtle trees, and said, “We have
patrolled the earth, and behold, all the
earth is peaceful and quiet.”

Joshua the high priest
standing before the angel
of the LORD, and Satan
standing at his right hand
to accuse him.

Zechariah 3:2
And the LORD said
to Satan, “The LORD
rebuke
you,
Satan!
Indeed, the LORD who
has chosen Jerusalem
rebuke you! Is this not a
brand plucked from the
fire?”
Zechariah 3:3
Now Joshua was
clothed
with
filthy
garments and standing
before the angel.
Zechariah 3:4
And he spoke and
said to those who were
standing
before
him
saying, “Remove the filthy
garments
from
him.”
Again he said to him,
“See, I have taken your
iniquity away from you
and will clothe you with
festal robes.”
“Let us rejoice and be
glad and give the glory to
Him, for the marriage of
the Lamb has come and
His bride has made
herself ready.” 8 It was
given to her to clothe
herself in fine linen,
bright and clean; for the
fine linen is the righteous
acts of the saints.
(Revelation 19:7-8).
Zechariah 3:8
Now listen, Joshua the high priest,
you and your friends who are sitting in
front of you-- indeed they are men who
are a symbol, for behold, I am going to
bring in My servant the Branch.
In that day the Branch of the LORD will
be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit
of the earth will be the pride and the
adornment of the survivors of Israel.
“Behold, the days are coming,” declares the
LORD,
“When I will raise up for David a righteous
Branch;
And He will reign as king and act wisely
And do justice and righteousness in the land.
6 In His days Judah will be saved,
And Israel will dwell securely;
And this is His name by which He will be
called,
‘The LORD our righteousness.’” (Jeremiah
23:5-6).
Zechariah 3:9-10
“For behold, the stone that I have
set before Joshua; on one stone are
seven eyes. Behold, I will engrave an
inscription on it,” declares the LORD of
hosts, “and I will remove the iniquity of
that land in one day. 10 In that day,"
declares the LORD of hosts, "every one
of you will invite his neighbor to sit
under his vine and under his fig tree.”
Zechariah 4:1
Then the angel who was speaking
with me returned and roused me, as a
man who is awakened from his sleep.
Zechariah 4:2-3
He said to me, “What do you see?”
And I said, “I see, and behold, a lampstand all of gold with its bowl on the top
of it, and its seven lamps on it with
seven spouts belonging to each of the
lamps which are on the top of it; 3 also
two olive trees by it, one on the right
side of the bowl and the other on its left
side.”
Zechariah 4:4-5
Then I answered and said to the
angel who was speaking with me saying,
"What are these, my lord?"
So the angel who was speaking
with me answered and said to me,
“Do you not know what these are?” And I
said, “No, my lord.”
5
Zechariah 4:6-7
Then he answered and said to me,
“This is the word of the LORD to
Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by might nor by
power, but by My Spirit,’ says the LORD
of hosts. 7 What are you, O great
mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will
become a plain; and he will bring forth
the top stone with shouts of “Grace,
grace to it!”’”
Zechariah 4:8-9
Also the word of the LORD came to
me saying, 9 “The hands of Zerubbabel
have laid the foundation of this house,
and his hands will finish it. Then you will
know that the LORD of hosts has sent
me to you.”
Zechariah 4:10
For who has despised the day of
small things? But these seven will be
glad when they see the plumb line in the
hand of Zerubbabel-- these are the eyes
of the LORD which range to and fro
throughout the earth.
Zechariah 4:11
Then I answered and said to him,
“What are these two olive trees on the
right of the lampstand and on its left?”
Zechariah 4:12
And I answered the second time
and said to him, “What are the two olive
branches which are beside the two
golden pipes, which empty the golden oil
from themselves?”
Zechariah 4:13-14
So he answered me saying, "Do
you not know what these are?" And I
said, “No, my lord.”
14 Then he said, “These are the two
anointed ones, who are standing by the
Lord of the whole earth.”

Zechariah 6:9-11
The word of the LORD also came
to me saying, 10 “Take an offering from
the exiles, from Heldai, Tobijah, and
Jedaiah; and you go the same day and
enter the house of Josiah the son of
Zephaniah, where they have arrived
from Babylon. 11 And take silver and
gold, make an ornate crown, and set it
on the head of Joshua the son of
Jehozadak, the high priest.”
Zechariah 6:12
Then say to him, “Thus says the
LORD of hosts, ‘Behold, a man whose
name is Branch, for He will branch out
from where He is; and He will build the
temple of the LORD.’”
Zechariah 6:13
“‘Yes, it is He who will build the
temple of the LORD, and He who will
bear the honor and sit and rule on His
throne. Thus, He will be a priest on His
throne, and the counsel of peace will
be between the two offices.’”

The Coming of the Lord
Zechariah 14:1
Behold, a day is coming for the
LORD when the spoil taken from you
will be divided among you.
Zechariah 14:2
For I will gather all the nations
against Jerusalem to battle, and the
city will be captured, the houses
plundered, the women ravished and
half of the city exiled, but the rest of the
people will not be cut off from the city.
Zechariah 14:3
Then the LORD will go forth and
fight against those nations, as when He
fights on a day of battle.
Zechariah 14:4
In that day His feet will stand on
the Mount of Olives, which is in front of
Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount
of Olives will be split in its middle from
east to west by a very large valley, so
that half of the mountain will move
toward the north and the other half
toward the south.

Malachi 3:1
“Behold, I am going to send My
messenger, and he will clear the way
before Me. And the Lord, whom you
seek, will suddenly come to His temple;
and the messenger of the covenant, in
whom you delight, behold, He is
coming,” says the LORD of hosts.
Malachi 3:2-3
But who can endure the day of
His coming? And who can stand when
He appears? For He is like a refiner’s
fire and like fullers’ soap. 3 He will sit as
a smelter and purifier of silver, and He
will purify the sons of Levi and refine
them like gold and silver, so that they
may present to the LORD offerings in

Promise of coming judgment and
restoration
Malachi 4:1
“For behold, the day is coming,
burning like a furnace; and all the
arrogant and every evildoer will be
chaff; and the day that is coming will
set them ablaze,” says the LORD of
hosts, “so that it will leave them neither
root nor branch.”
Malachi 4:2
But for you who
fear My name the sun of
righteousness will rise
with healing in its wings;
and you will go forth and
skip about like calves
from the stall.
In His Wings...
• 1 Samuel 24:4. David arose and cut off
the edge of Saul's robe secretly
• Deuteronomy 22:12. "You shall make
yourself tassels on the four corners of
your garment...
• Deuteronomy 22:30. “A man shall not take
his father's wife so that he shall not
uncover his father's skirt.”
In His Wings...
• Ruth 3:9. And she answered, “I am Ruth
your maid. So spread your covering over
your maid, for you are a close relative.”
Malachi 4:2
But for you who
fear My name the sun of
righteousness will rise
with healing in its wings;
and you will go forth and
skip about like calves
from the stall.
Malachi 4:5-6
Behold, I am going to send you
Elijah the prophet before the coming
of the great and terrible day of the
LORD. 6 And he will restore the hearts
of the fathers to their children, and the
hearts of the children to their fathers,
lest I come and smite the land with a
curse.
As they were coming
down from the
mountain, Jesus
commanded them,
saying, “Tell the vision
to no one until the
Son of Man has risen
from the dead.”
(Matthew 17:9).
And His disciples
asked Him, “Why
then do the scribes
say that Elijah must
come first?”
(Matthew 17:10).
And He answered and said,
“Elijah is coming and will
restore all things; 12 but I
say to you that Elijah
already came, and they did
not recognize him, but did
to him whatever they
wished. So also the Son of
Man is going to suffer at
their hands.” (Matthew
17:11-12).
Then the disciples
understood that He
had spoken to them
about John the
Baptist. (Matthew
17:13).
