New Graduate Students Graduate Program Chicago Campus Schaumburg Campus Online School Counseling 3.4 3.4 -- Clinical Mental Health Counseling 3.4 3.1 -- 4 Candidate and Program Performance Advanced Programs January 20, 2012 5 Content Knowledge The average total weighted score for all clinical mental health counseling candidates on the CPCE was 78.05 The average total weighted score for all school counseling candidates on the CPCE was 71.61 6 Assessment of Clinical Practice School counseling candidates had an average criterion score of 98%, but only 7 candidates were evaluated (28 enrolled in Fall 2010) CMHC candidates had an average criterion score of 100%, but only 6 Chicago candidates were evaluated (26 were enrolled at both campuses in Fall 2010) 7 Assessment of Impact School counselor candidates had an avg. total score of 91% across both campuses (83% in Chicago), but only 7 candidates were assessed 8 Assessment of Professional Dispositions 3 Student Performance Reviews were requested in advanced programs (Superintendent, Reading, & School Counseling) 1 candidate was dismissed, 1 was given a remediation plan, and 1 faculty advisor intervened 9 Exit and Employer Survey Data 10 Employer Survey Results In May 2011, the COE conducted its 1st survey of employers 11% response rate (45/410) 4 Highest Rated Items (93% avg. score) Positively impacts student/client learning Understands the importance of the physical learning environment Abides by ethical practices Continues to learn content in their professional field 11 Lowest Rated Items In general, I would recommend that the graduates of Roosevelt University's College of Education be hired by my place of employment (3.45 or 86%) In general, the graduates of Roosevelt University's College of Education with whom I have worked are well-prepared for their profession (3.40 or 85%) The employee… Uses technology appropriately with students/clients Works well with individuals from diverse backgrounds 12 Graduate Exit Surveys In May 2011, the COE conducted its 1st survey of graduate program completers Advanced respondents: 11 from Counseling, 8 from Principal (6) and TLED (2) Initial respondents: 34 Surveys were distributed via email, using Survey Monkey, and using surveys developed by the Student Services Committee 13 Counseling Program Items with highest average agreement with respect to being well-prepared: – Professional orientation (6.4 or 91%) – Helping relationships (6.4 or 91%) • Items with highest average agreement with respect to causes of preparedness: – Quality of RU classroom instruction (6.2 or 89%) – Overall quality of faculty instruction (6.2 or 89%) – The quality of the program (6.2 or 89%) 14 Counseling Programs Items with lowest average agreement with respect to being well-prepared: – Career and lifestyle development (5.3 or 76%) – Research and program evaluation (5.4 or 77%) • Items with lowest average agreement with respect to causes of preparedness: – Regularity of course offerings (4.8 or 69%) – Convenience of course offerings (4.9 or 70%) – Orientation to the program and advising (5.5 or 79%) 15 Next Steps 1.
