Study Skills
Agenda Use
Agendas should be filled out for each
core class on a daily basis.
Good Note taking
- Notes should be organized with titles.
- Notes should be in the correct subject
notebook.
- Notes should be legible with limited
doodling.
- Worksheets and documents are
organized in folders and binders.
Rework Math Problems
- Each night students should rework math
problems from class, meaning cover up
original answer and redo the work.
- Students should ask Ms. Gutscher for
help if needed during Homeroom the
very next morning or during study hall.
Fully Participate in class discussions
- Listen to the ideas of others.
- Add to the conversation.
- Work out all problems given in class.
- Ask Questions. Ask for Help when
needed
- Take Notes.
- Make Connections.
Watch Math Videos
- Watch the math review videos and mini
lessons by unit found on Ms. Gutscher’s
website.
- Watch the videos at start of each unit,
Before quizzes/test, and when confused
on homework or corrections.
Make Flashcards
- For math formulas
- For all vocabulary
- For all science & social studies content.
- After each day of notes, create
flashcards covering key concepts.
- Review cards each day on the way to
school, during Homeroom, and before
bed.
Read the Text
- For science and social studies students
should read the textbook at the start of
each unit and to review for test.
- Math textbooks can also be used as a
resource. Read the unit and look at
sample problems in text to help with
homework and corrections.
Use online resources
found on Website.
- Links for Khan Academy,
Discovery Ed, CK12, Brain
Pop, Ks3 Bitesize, and
other resources can all
be found on my website.
- These sites should be
used as a resource
for remediation and/or
enrichment on a
weekly basis.
Students need to
complete all assignments
on time and to the best of
their ability.
