APNIC eLearning Ready when you are! 1 APNIC training - background • Training is an important and fundamental member service • Training helps – develop better capabilities – improve knowledge and understanding – adopt BCPs in internet operational technologies • eLearning will help more members access this service 2 Why APNIC eLearning? • Remote Access Survey, Dec. 2005 – 86% of respondents supported development of eLearning – Only 31% had attended an on-line course • Making training more widely accessible – across time zones and geographic boundaries • Complementing face-to-face training – On-line pre-requisite module frees up face-to-face training sessions – Trainers can dedicate more time to more advanced and practical skills training – The creation of simulations where technologies are not available for training 3 Why use eLearning? eLearning … • is free of charge • is more accessible • allows you to manage your own learning • gives you virtual access to trainers • gives you better opportunities to gain knowledge 4 What is currently available? • Two modules – Using eLearning - learn how to: • register • enrol • navigate – ISP Address Request – learn how to: • use the new form • prepare your IPv4 address application • seek help with your application • Feedback – All feedback will be used to guide future module development 5 Who is eLearning for? • Member organisations and other interested people • New staff of member organisations • Anyone wishing to update or refresh their knowledge of: – internet operational technologies – APNIC procedures and policies 6 What to expect in the future? • eLearning will be integrated into our training environment as we develop our blended learning approach • A variety of blended learning techniques incorporating: – Community forums – Webcasting – Electronic training modules – Simulations used in face-to-face training 7 How do I access eLearning? 1.
