Document Status
• Version (-02) has got sufficient and dense review by Kevin Gross
and Varun Singh after Paris meeting
• Version (-03) as basis Enter into WGLC in June 11 together with
Discard RLE draft
• Two updates (-04) (-05) were issued to address the comments
during WGLC.
– Reordering the discard type
– Clarify how to report combination of 3 discard types
• Many thanks to the reviewers

• This draft support reporting the number of packets discards in four
cases

Issue # Duplication Packets discards
• It is agreed that the packet discarded due to duplication is
regarded as one discard type.
– The consensus is to report duplication packets discard separately.
– The current draft allocate DT =0 to this discard type.
• Alan proposed on the list to add some background to
explain the cause of duplication packets discards.
• Proposal:
– Add one statement at the end of the definition of Discard
Type as follows:
• Note that duplicating RTP packets using RTP replication may
lead to breakage of RTP media streams or RTCP rules. In order
not to disrupt all the RTCP statistics, it is recommended to
duplicate RTP packets as described in draft-ietf-avtext-rtpduplication-00 which will not cause breakage.
• Put draft-ietf-avtext-rtp-duplication-00 as informative reference.
