HAVING THE RIGHT ATTITUDE
A complex mental state involving beliefs and
feelings and values and dispositions to act in
certain ways
Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through
selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of
mind let each esteem others better than himself.
4 Let each of you look out not only for his own
interests, but also for the interests of others. 5
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ
Jesus,
Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God
prepared beforehand that we should walk in
them.
Proverbs 11:27 He who earnestly seeks good
finds favor, But trouble will come to him who
seeks evil.
Proverbs 17:22 A merry heart does good, like
medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.
Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is
he.
Philippians 2:14 Do all things without
complaining and disputing,
Romans 12:14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and
do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and
weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind
toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things,
but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your
own opinion. 17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard
for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible,
as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.
19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give
place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will
repay," says the Lord. 20 Therefore "If your enemy is
hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in
so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head." 21 Do
not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Genesis 4:3 And in the process of time it came to
pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of
the ground to the LORD. 4 Abel also brought of
the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the
LORD respected Abel and his offering, 5 but He
did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain
was very angry, and his countenance fell. 6 So
the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And
why has your countenance fallen? 7 "If you do
well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not
do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for
you, but you should rule over it."
Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered to God a
more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which
he obtained witness that he was righteous,
Isaiah 1:11 "To what purpose is the multitude of your
sacrifices to Me?" Says the LORD. "I have had enough of
burnt offerings of rams And the fat of fed cattle. I do not
delight in the blood of bulls, Or of lambs or goats. 12
"When you come to appear before Me, Who has required
this from your hand, To trample My courts? 13 Bring no
more futile sacrifices; Incense is an abomination to Me.
The New Moons, the Sabbaths, and the calling of
assemblies -- I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred
meeting. 14 Your New Moons and your appointed feasts
My soul hates; They are a trouble to Me, I am weary of
bearing them. 15 When you spread out your hands, I will
hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many
prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.
16 "Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put
away the evil of your doings from before My eyes.
Cease to do evil, 17 Learn to do good; Seek justice,
Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead
for the widow. 18 " Come now, and let us reason
together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are like
scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they
are red like crimson, They shall be as wool. 19 If you
are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of
the land; 20 But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be
devoured by the sword"; For the mouth of the LORD
has spoken.
Amos 6:3 Woe to you who put far off the day of
doom, Who cause the seat of violence to come
near; 4 Who lie on beds of ivory, Stretch out on
your couches, Eat lambs from the flock And calves
from the midst of the stall; 5 Who sing idly to the
sound of stringed instruments, And invent for
yourselves musical instruments like David; 6
Who drink wine from bowls, And anoint
yourselves with the best ointments, But are not
grieved for the affliction of Joseph. 7 Therefore
they shall now go captive as the first of the
captives, And those who recline at banquets shall
be removed.
Micah 6:6 With what shall I come before the
LORD, And bow myself before the High God? Shall
I come before Him with burnt offerings, With
calves a year old? 7 Will the LORD be pleased
with thousands of rams, Ten thousand rivers of
oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my
transgression, The fruit of my body for the sin of
my soul? 8 He has shown you, O man, what is
good; And what does the LORD require of you But
to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly
with your God?
Deuteronomy 6:5 "You shall love the LORD your
God with all your heart, with all your soul, and
with all your strength. 6 " And these words which
I command you today shall be in your heart.
1 Corinthians 13:1 Though I speak with the
tongues of men and of angels, but have not love,
I have become sounding brass or a clanging
cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of
prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all
knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I
could remove mountains, but have not love, I am
nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to
feed the poor, and though I give my body to be
burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the
love that God has for us. God is love, and he who
abides in love abides in God, and God in him. 17
Love has been perfected among us in this: that
we may have boldness in the day of judgment;
because as He is, so are we in this world. 18
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out
fear, because fear involves torment. But he who
fears has not been made perfect in love. 19 We
love Him because He first loved us.
Genesis 4:5 And Cain was very angry, and his
countenance fell. 6 So the LORD said to Cain,
"Why are you angry? And why has your
countenance fallen? 7 "If you do well, will you
not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin
lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you
should rule over it." 8 Now Cain talked with Abel
his brother; and it came to pass, when they were
in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his
brother and killed him.
Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren,
by the mercies of God, that you present your
bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God,
which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be
conformed to this world, but be transformed by
the renewing of your mind, that you may prove
what is that good and acceptable and perfect will
of God. 3 For I say, through the grace given to
me, to everyone who is among you, not to think
of himself more highly than he ought to think, but
to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a
measure of faith.
1 John 2:1 My little children, these things I write
to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone
sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus
Christ the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the
propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but
also for the whole world. 3 Now by this we know
that we know Him, if we keep His
commandments. 4 He who says, "I know Him,"
and does not keep His commandments, is a liar,
and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps
His word, truly the love of God is perfected in
him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He
who says he abides in Him ought himself also to
walk just as He walked.
Job 1:13 Now there was a day when his sons and
daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest
brother's house; 14 and a messenger came to Job and
said, "The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding
beside them, 15 "when the Sabeans raided them and
took them away -- indeed they have killed the servants
with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to
tell you!" 16 While he was still speaking, another also
came and said, "The fire of God fell from heaven and
burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed
them; and I alone have escaped to tell you!" 17 While he
was still speaking, another also came and said, "The
Chaldeans formed three bands, raided the camels and
took them away, yes, and killed the servants with the
edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!"
18 While he was still speaking, another also came
and said, "Your sons and daughters were eating and
drinking wine in their oldest brother's house, 19
"and suddenly a great wind came from across the
wilderness and struck the four corners of the house,
and it fell on the young people, and they are dead;
and I alone have escaped to tell you!" 20 Then Job
arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell
to the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said:
"Naked I came from my mother's womb, And naked
shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD
has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD."
22 In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with
wrong.
Job 2:3 Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you
considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on
the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears
God and shuns evil? And still he holds fast to his integrity,
although you incited Me against him, to destroy him
without cause." 4 So Satan answered the LORD and said,
"Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his
life. 5 "But stretch out Your hand now, and touch his
bone and his flesh, and he will surely curse You to Your
face!" 6 And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, he is in
your hand, but spare his life." 7 So Satan went out from
the presence of the LORD, and struck Job with painful
boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.
8 And he took for himself a potsherd with which
to scrape himself while he sat in the midst of the
ashes. 9 Then his wife said to him, "Do you still
hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!"
10 But he said to her, "You speak as one of the
foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept
good from God, and shall we not accept
adversity?" In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
Psalm 40:4 Blessed is that man who makes the
LORD his trust, And does not respect the proud,
nor such as turn aside to lies. 5 Many, O LORD
my God, are Your wonderful works Which You
have done; And Your thoughts toward us Cannot
be recounted to You in order; If I would declare
and speak of them, They are more than can be
numbered. 6 Sacrifice and offering You did not
desire; My ears You have opened. Burnt offering
and sin offering You did not require. 7 Then I
said, "Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it
is written of me. 8 I delight to do Your will, O my
God, And Your law is within my heart."
