Differences were still apparent after taking poverty status into account. For instance, a greater percentage of students in English-speaking households at each poverty level had parents who reported receiving newsletters, memos, or notices addressed to all parents and chances to volunteer than did students from Spanish-speaking households at the same poverty level.
