MV100 Acceptance Testing
•

9 MV100’s used in Box S and 4 in Box C.
Each MV100 Undergoes Tests in the Sequence:
1. Electrical Characteristics (coil resistance, inductance).
2. Leak Tightness at 50oC and 0oC with 3000psi pressure.
3. Endurance in Magnetic Field at Room Temperature
(500 cycles with 1500 psi pressure and 5 cycles with
3000psi pressure in 600G field at two different
orientations)
4. Repeat Tests 1 and 2. Test 2 is now done in a 600G
Field and at 2 orientations

MV100 Acceptance Testing
Status
• 25 out of 27 Completely Tested (94% of all
tests done).
• 7 had leaks through valve seat at 0oC.
• 1 had leak through valve seat at room temp.
• 1 leaked to outside at all temperatures.
• Recommend  T > 0oC At all Times.
• Electrical Characteristics + Endurance OK.

Future Test on MV100
Subset
• These Tests are NOT for Flight Units.
• Long Term Endurance (>20 000 cycles
in Magnet) at High and Low T.
• Understand Effect of Temperature on
Leak Rate across Valve Seat.
• Effects of Temperature Extremes on
Valve (ie. Heat and Cool to Failure).
