Tien Sheraton Universal Hotel February 17, 2007 EAB N & A: 2007 Members Evelyn Hirt Thomas Jahns Moshe Kam, Ex-Officio Pedro Ray James Tien, Chair William Walsh 2 EAB N&A: On 2008 VP-EA As of today, EAB N & A Chair invites nominations for the position of 2008 VP-EA Nominations due April 15th to [email protected]. Chair will ask nominees if they are willing to serve; if so, they will each provide a 2-page candidate statement/IEEE bio due May 15th to [email protected]. EAB N&A Committee holds a teleconference to review the submitted information and to arrive at its recommendations for EAB review and consideration on June 16th. Following EAB endorsement, the slate of candidates will be submitted to IEEE N & A Committee. 3 EAB N&A: On Other 2008 EAB Positions At June EAB meeting, EAB N & A Chair will invite nominations for 2008 EAB Committee Chairs and other Committee positions due November 1st to [email protected]. EAB N&A Chair will share the nominations with the incoming 2008 EAB VP EAB Committees include: RAB Reps (2), TAB Reps (2), SA Rep, N & A, FinCom, SPC, ARC, PECC, APC, CPEC, PAC, SEOC, SOOC 4 Marketing and Sales Committee As Director of IEEE Sales and Marketing Department, Jonathan Dahl summarized status of their take over of IHS’ $70M activities that have contributed to over $100M sales in 2006 and over $110M in 2007 Discussion about staff attendance at conferences to market IEEE membership, products and services; Conferences Committee, under Gerry Engel will be requesting continued funding of this activity – we’re making sure that EAB products and services are also being marketed! Discussion about possible overlaps between Marketing and Sales Committee and other Boards (e.g., PSPB) and Committees (e.g., TAB/PSPB P&S) IEEE Sales and Marketing Department is welcoming the take over IEEE Expert Now marketing and sales from Thompson, which retains the module development and hosting responsibilities 5 PSPB 2006 VP Saifur Rahman replaced by John Baillieul as PSPB VP in 2007 The replacement of the Oracle system with Siebel’s Business Management System (BMS) continues to be delayed; the Xplore cut-over with these new BMS features was supposed to happen by 7/1/06 but may not be completed till mid-2007 Since the offering of Member IEEE Expert Now is dependent on the BMS, it must now again be delayed till 3/07. Actually, IEEE and Thompson should focus on seamlessly having Thompson’s LMS operate under IEEE’s Xplore Gerry Grenier reviewed new features in future releases of IEEE Xplore IEEE Press seems to have turned the corner in regard to net revenue 6
