The Goals
 Living IN Christ is not about being perfect. It's about
understanding the fullness of God's love for you and then
showing that love to others (Matthew 22:37-39).
 Our goal is to make sure you are INformed as it relates to
the love of Christ and the activities of the church.
 We also want you to be INspired to live lives fully committed
to Christ—demonstrated through acts of love, kindness and
service.
 We want to inspire the members of Southeast to be fully
INvolved – in ministry at church and in the community.
 Finally we want you to be INvested by giving of your Time,
Talent, and Treasure.

The "20/80 rule"—the idea that 20% of people in a typical
church do 80% of the work.
In most churches there seems to be a core group of really
dedicated volunteers without whom it's hard to imagine
the church even functioning. And there's the other 80%,
who for whatever reason aren't very involved beyond
attending Sabbath worship services.
Whose fault is the 80/20 rule?
The answer might surprise you.

Who Is Really To Blame for the 80/20 Rule?
It’s not the fault of the 80%.
They would like to be involved.
If asked, they would joyfully respond and help out.
The 20% is mostly to blame for the 80/20 rule.

Not only do we have to ask, but I have discovered that
most be need to taught how to manage their Time.
The most glaring but least talked about gift in our
Christian lives is the gift of Time.
If heaven is to our home then we must begin vigorously
investing more of our God-given time to build
ourselves and other up in His Word.

Knowing The Time
Consider the following passage of scripture:
Rom 13:11- 12
11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to
awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than
when we believed.
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us
therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on
the armor of light.

Tithing Your Time
Here is something to think about. What would happen in
your home and in your church if you made a commitment
of time using the following formula?
There are 168 hours in the week (112 of these are waking
hours).
a. Hours for sleep
b. Hours for work
c. Hours for commuting
d. Hours for chores 10
e. Meals
f. Daily Devotions

 Volunteering - Charitable time to hospitals, feeding hungry/homeless,
etc.
 Group Outreach activities with your church
 The challenge of time commitment on the parts of our members
(especially the well-educated and the affluent) is a very serious one.
It may require more prayer than the commitment of their “talent.”

A Plan for Nurture and Growth
Begin the year praying seriously intently, and
specifically for those you would like to see saved.
Place the chosen lessons each week into the
hands of each person attending Sabbath services,
including visitors.
 Members are encouraged to give the lesson for
the week to a friend, relative, employer, coworker,
etc.
 Church services must become more than
celebration. They must also become times for
membership witnessing preparation.
15
I’M IN
A Plan for Nurture and Growth
Pastor, elder, or personal ministries leader should
take 3-5 minutes to cover the high points of
the lesson for the week. Two to four minutes each
Sabbath during Divine Worship may be given to
the witnessing members for short pre-planned,
pre selected reports on reactions of students
and themselves to the lessons and the
experience of giving it.

I’M IN
A Plan for Nurture and Growth
 Once per month have an Evangelism service in
your church where the members can bring their
Bible Study interests to hear their Bible Studies
taught in the preaching setting.
 This could be done on a Sabbath morning “Friends
and Family Day” or Sabbath afternoon once per
month at the AY Hour and can be named “Sunset
Evangelism.”

Faithful Stewards
 53% of Christians have not given to their
church in the last month.
 SDAs average 25%-30% faithfully returning tithe
 The major hurdle to cross in this discussion is to help
the membership understand that the subject of
Christian Stewardship is a spiritual one first, then
secondly it is a financial one.

Faithful Stewards
…all the tithe of the land… it is the Lord’s. It is holy unto
the Lord. Leviticus 27:30
Tithe – 10% to support the gospel ministry of the
church
world
The tithe is biblically mandated to be ten percent of our
income, and is used for the support of pastors, evangelists,
Bible teachers, and administrators.

Take ye from among you an offering unto the Lord; whoever is of a
willing heart let him bring it, an offering of the Lord. Exodus 35:5
Offering – 5% to support the local church mission, ministries,
and physical plant.
The local church budget includes things like: Sabbath
School materials, Evangelism, Church School subsides,
Pantry, Staff stipends, Mortgage, Utilities, Insurance, Church
Bulletins, ect...

Responsibility of Pastor
Let the church appoint pastors or elders who are
devoted to the Lord Jesus, and let these men see that
officers are chosen who will attend faithfully to the work
of gathering in the tithe. If the pastors show that they
are not fitted for their charge, if they fail to set before
the church the importance of returning to God His own,
if they do not see to it that the officers under them are
faithful, and that the tithe is brought in, they are in peril.
They are neglecting a matter which involves a blessing
or a curse to the church. They should be relieved of
their responsibility, and other men should be tested and
tried. {CS 106.1}

Embezzlement
It is a serious thing to embezzle the
Lord's goods, to practice robbery
toward God; for in so doing the
perceptions become perverted and
the heart hardened… To defraud
God is the greatest crime of which
man can be guilty; and yet this sin is
deep and widespread.
R. & H., Oct. 13, 1896. {CS 86.3}

I’M IN
Faithful Stewards
The next challenge then is
not to get more out of those
who are already faithful,
but to get more of the
membership into the ranks
of the faithful.

The Vision for 2015 puts a major emphasis on seriously
nurturing and involving the membership in the ministries of
the church.
Most of what has been laid out in this document is
mechanical. Because of that the most important point to be
made can be missed. That point has been saved for last.
Our success in the work of the Lord, whether clergy of
laity, rests in PRAYER and our faith in the loving and
powerful name of Jesus.

Prayer is the most
powerful force on earth.
It is essential for one’s
own personal spiritual
growth, and is the most
effective means of
reaching others for Christ.

We Must Begin NOW
Here is another fact we must face.
It has taken many years for our members to reach this
level of inactivity in the soul winning process. It is going to
take time for us to turn this around but we must begin the
turning NOW!!
In that regard we must hold up a high standard of
faithfulness and achievement for ourselves while
exhibiting patience with each other.
