The Final Project “Local History and Culture” We thank all the participants who joined our project: - Sarov, Russia - Cameroon - Indonesia My native town Tselina • Tselina is one of the largest towns of Rostov region. (Целинского района Ростовской области). • Its population is about 11,100 people. «Bomb with big eyes and a red nose.» This presetation is from Sarov, Russia 6B RDS – 1 • In this museum there are a lot of bombs and they are very big. And one of them is the most interesting bomb. It is RDS – 1. This bomb isn’t very big but it can destroy a whole city. RDS – 1 was the first Soviet nuclear bomb. «Fat Man» We know there is a museum like ours in the USA. National Museum of Nuclear Science and History in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In this museum there is a bomb called «Fat Man». It is like RDS – 1. The «Fat Man» was detonated over Nagasaki, Japan on August 9, 1945. DISCOVER CAMEROON CULTURE AND RYTHM FOOTBALL! For a long time it was not shown on geographic maps, it was not mentioned in newspapers, though it was of great importance for the country. Nor did it even have a name of its own. It was called Arzamas-16. Hardly anybody knew that in Arzamas-16 secret activities were carried out on developing a menacing nuclear weapon that would defend our Motherland from an outsider attack. It was only in 1995 that the city got its modern name of Sarov. But the history of Sarov goes much further into the ancient times.
