What is an Early
College High School?
• A small school designed for students to earn a
diploma and an Associate’s degree
simultaneously
• Improves high school graduation rates
• Prepares all students for high-skill careers
• Engages students in a rigorous, college
preparatory curriculum
• Greatly eases the transition from high school to
college and enhances the chances for the
completion of a four-year degree

Basics…
• Courses taught by GCISD high school teachers and TCC-NE professors
• Collegiate Academy is a “stand alone” campus with its own teachers,
leader, schedule, campus ID number, etc.
• Transportation is provided (Buses pick up Collegiate Academy students
from the four GCISD middle schools)
• Lunch available through GCISD Nutrition Services
• Students do not pay for tuition, fees or textbooks
• Highly qualified teachers with demonstrated success providing
accelerated instruction to at-risk students
• Support structures:
• college-going culture
• personalized learning including tutoring, mentoring
• extracurricular, and cultural activities
