Use MS Windows XP’s “Scheduled Tasks” application
Start-->All Programs-->Accessories-->System Tools-->Scheduled Tasks
Double click on the “Add Scheduled Task” wizard button
• The Schedule Task Wizard will appear • Click on the “Next >” button
• The wizard will provide a set applications • Click the “Browse…” button
• The following “ Select Program to Schedule ” dialog box will appear
In the “File name:” field, enter the following: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
Then, click on the “Open” button
• Name your task by changing “Internet Explorer” to “Time Sheet”
• The wizard will now ask how often you wish to perform this task:
• Select “Daily” & click the “Next >” button
• Select the start time • Select “Weekdays” • Select the start date • Click the “Next >” button
• The wizard will ask which user you wish the application to “run” as: • Run the app as yourself (STSCI\username) • Enter your password (this is the same password for logging into your Windows laptop/desktop) • Click on the “Next >” button
• The wizard's confirmation box will appear: • Check the “ Open advanced properties for this task when I click Finish ” box • Click the “Finish” button
• The advanced properties dialog box will appear:
Make the following modifications • In the “Run:” field, change: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" to "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" -new http://mytime.stsci.edu
• Check the “Run only if logged on” box
• Click the “OK” button
