FIRST, NEW WI-FI®1 PLAYS.This quick-start guide gives you two options for connecting the Observer wall control’s Wi-Fi system to a homeowner’s Internet connection. This new feature will enable homeowners to access their home comfort systems from certain smart phones, tablets or computers2. • PLAY #W-1: SCREEN PASS – Pass control of the Observer system directly through the homeowner’s wireless LAN/router and internet connection. • PLAY #W-2: HAND OFF – If a homeowner has Internet access but no existing Wi-Fi network or a wireless network that is not compatible with the Observer communicating wall control, an Observer wireless access point can hand off system control to the homeowner’s Internet connection. SECOND, THE BASIC PLAYS. Nine options for setting up a communicating system with the Observer wall control. • PLAY #1: TWO-MINUTE DRILL – Set up a communicating furnace/fan coil with a two-stage communicating outdoor unit. • PLAY #2: STRAIGHT UPTHE MIDDLE – Set up a communicating furnace/fan coil with a single-stage communicating outdoor unit. 1Wi-Fi is a registered trademark of Wi-Fi Alliance Corporation. 2When the Observer wall control is connected to the Internet through a Wi-Fi network. 2 C O M M U N I C A T I N G S Y S T E M • PLAY #3: HALFBACK PASS – Communicating furnace/fan coil and non-communicating single-stage AC. • PLAY #4: HALFBACK DB OPTION – Communicating furnace/fan coil with non-communicating two-stage AC. • PLAY #5: FULLBACK DB SWEEP – Non-communicating furnace/fan coil with non-communicating AC or HP. • PLAY #6: OUTSIDE OPTION PACKAGE – Non-communicating small package products (SPP). • PLAY #7: HITCH ‘N GO – How to set up the outdoor temperature display with a communicating AC or HP. • PLAY #8: END RUN – How to set up the outdoor temperature display with a non-communicating outdoor unit. • PLAY #9: TWO-POINT CONVERSION – How to set up Remote Room Sensors with any system. THIRD, DETAILS. Once you’ve called the play, you can check the Observer communicating system playbook to see example wiring diagrams to help you execute the play to perfection. FOURTH, ZONING. Use these four plays to make setup of a zoned system simple. • PLAY #Z-1: ZONE READ – How to use the Observer wall control with room sensors only. • PLAY #Z-2: ZONE BLITZ – How to use Observer wall controls as remote room sensors. • PLAY #Z-3: COVER 6 – How to use a combination of wall controls and room sensors. • PLAY #Z-4: DB ZONE – How to use wall controls and room sensors with a daughter board. 3 PLAY #W-1: SCREEN PASS Observer wall control connects directly to the homeowner’s wireless router.
