THE POPE WAY
• We are a Family
– siblings, parents have come through Pope!
• Multi-Sport Athletes
–
–
–
–
It makes them a better overall athlete
It makes them a more competitive athlete
It keeps an athlete from potentially being burned out by one sport
All of our Pope programs are made better/stronger when we share
athletes
– The entire Pope coaching staff really cares about each other’s
program and support one another however we can
– we truly do have a family atmosphere at Pope with our
sports/coaches
– We don’t have as many students as other schools do, so we need ALL
of our athletes to play multiple sports if possible to stay competitive
Athletic Code of Conduct
• CCSD—minimum
http://www.cobbk12.org/centraloffice/adminrules/I/IDF-R.pdf
– 365 days/24 hours a day, in/out of season, on/off school grounds
– Infractions MUST be reported or the penalties will be doubled and/or increased
– Primarily targets drugs/alcohol (offenses are cumulative)
• 1st Offense-25 calendar suspension from athletics; 30% of regular season competitions;
GRIP program
• 2nd Offense-one calendar suspension from athletics
• 3rd Offense-permanent suspension from CCSD athletics
– Felonies-suspension last until resolved
– F7 = Any act at school or away from school which, in the opinion of the
Principal reflects in a negative manner on the school, athletic program, or
activity. (ie: Social Media)
• Individual Team Policies
– Some programs have more severe Codes of Conduct (ex: boys LAX)
• Suspension
– ISS—no athletic participation if a student serves any part of the day in ISS (ends
that day)
– OSS—no athletic participation or attendance to any school function through the
