Ohio Association of Career-Technical Superintendents Leah Amstutz and Lauren Massie June 19, 2015 Middle School Validation Process • • • • Open June – Sept. 30, 2015 STARS Professional Development System Must have SAFE account Free to districts Middle School Validation Beginning Fall 2015 (Fiscal Year 2016), teachers instructing middle school career-technical education courses must meet one of the following: 1. Possess a current, five-year Ohio professional license that includes middle school grade levels, and complete the Ohio Department of Education’s career-technical education validation process by Sept. 30, 2015. 2. Possess a current, five-year career-technical education license. No middle school validation required. 3. Possess a four-year alternative resident educator license for career-technical education and only teach VM middle school courses within their specific program and taxonomy. 4. Four-year non-CTE resident educators cannot teach VM CareerTechnical Education middle school courses.
