person to produce what is

distributing to each one as
He wills.

the varied grace of God.

strength God provides, so
that in everything God

What is a Spiritual Gift?

trained to do
• IS something you can develop and
learn to use more effectively

• When you get busy serving God and
are having fun doing it?
• When God is blessing what you’re
doing?
• When you see spiritual results?
• When people tell you that you were
a blessing?
• When you get impatient with others
for saying some part of Christian
service is too hard – and you think
its easy, what is it?

Two Categories
of Gifts
• 1st Peter 4:11 “If anyone

anyone serves, his service
should be from the strength

Serving Gifts
• Administration
(Rom. 12:8; 1 Cor. 12:28)
– The ability to organize
resources and mobilize God’s
people for ministry
• Mercy

– The heart of compassion for
those in distress and the ability
to bring a kind presence and
take action to bring comfort.

Serving Gifts
• Service (or helps)
(Rom. 12:7; 1 Cor. 12:28)
– The ability to give practical aid
and assistance behind the
scenes, relieving those who
cannot do the work for
themselves or are overloaded.
• Giving (Romans 12:8)

– The ability to earn and give money
from a generous heart. This
person give without trying to
control and in the name of Jesus.

• Teaching

– The ability to impart Biblical
truths to others in such a way
that it impacts their lives.
• Evangelism (Eph. 4:11)

Christ, and to clearly and
persuasively explain the Gospel.

• Purpose 1: The Strengthening of
the Church (and their Mission)

direction, the whole body is fitted
together perfectly. As each part does
its own special work, it helps the
