Question:
What makes for a great coach?
The Lord has told you what is good,
and this is what he requires of you:
to do what is right, to love mercy, and
to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8 (NLT)
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon
me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring
good news to the poor. He has sent me to
comfort the brokenhearted and to
proclaim that captives will be released
and prisoners will be freed.
Isaiah 61:1 (NLT)
Jesus told them, “Go back to John and tell
him what you have heard and seen— the
blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are
cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised
to life, and the Good News is being
preached to the poor.”
Matthew 11:4-5 (NLT)
Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been
given all authority in heaven and on earth.
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the
nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach
these new disciples to obey all the commands I
have given you.”
Matthew 28:18-20 (NLT)
INTRO KARA
When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he
gave them power and authority to drive out all
demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them
out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal
the sick. He told them: “Take nothing for the
journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money,
no extra shirt.
Luke 9:1-6 (NIV)
“Whatever house you enter, stay there until you
leave that town. If people do not welcome you,
leave their town and shake the dust off your feet
as a testimony against them.” So they set out
and went from village to village, proclaiming the
good news and healing people everywhere
Luke 9:1-6 (NIV)
Philip answered him, “It would take more than
half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for
each one to have a bite!” Another of his
disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke
up, “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves
and two small fish, but how far will they go
among so many?”
John 6:7-13 (NIV)
Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There
was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat
down (about five thousand men were there).
Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and
distributed to those who were seated as much
as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.
John 6:7-13 (NIV)
When they had all had enough to eat, he said to
his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left
over. Let nothing be wasted.” So they gathered
them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces
of the five barley loaves left over by those who
had eaten.
John 6:7-13 (NIV)
When he had finished speaking, he said to
Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let
down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered,
“Master, we’ve worked hard all night and
haven’t caught anything. But because you say
so, I will let down the nets.”
Luke 5:4-7 (NIV)
When they had done so, they caught such a
large number of fish that their nets began to
break. So they signaled their partners in the
other boat to come and help them, and they
came and filled both boats so full that they
began to sink.
Luke 5:4-7 (NIV)
Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore,
but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.
He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any
fish?” “No,” they answered. He said, “Throw your
net on the right side of the boat and you will find
some.” When they did, they were unable to haul
the net in because of the large number of fish.
John 21:4-6 (NIV)
Two Things Students Of Jesus
Need To Learn:
1. To Trust Jesus
“God blesses you when people mock you and
persecute you and lie about you and say all
sorts of evil things against you because you
are my followers. Be happy about it! Be very
glad! For a great reward awaits you in
heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets
were persecuted in the same way.”
Matthew 5:11-12 (NIV)
“You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You
must not murder. If you commit murder, you are
subject to judgment.’ But I say, if you are even angry
with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you
call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being
brought before the court. And if you curse
someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.”
Matthew 5:21-22 (NIV)
“You have heard the law that says the
punishment must match the injury: ‘An eye for
an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say, do not
resist an evil person! If someone slaps you on
the right cheek, offer the other cheek also.”
Matthew 5:38-39 (NIV)
“You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your
neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your
enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that
way, you will be acting as true children of your Father
in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil
and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the
unjust alike. If you love only those who love you,
what reward is there for that?”
Matthew 5:43-46 (NIV)
Study this Book of Instruction continually.
Meditate on it day and night so you will be
sure to obey everything written in it. Only
then will you prosper and succeed in all
you do.
Joshua 1:8 (NLT)
Skit: Kara and Sean
“Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over
the side of the boat and walked on the water
toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong
wind and the waves, he was terrified and
began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.
Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed
him.
Matthew 14:30-33 (NLT)
“You have so little faith,” Jesus said “Why did
you doubt me?” When they climbed back
into the boat, the wind stopped. Then the
disciples worshiped him. “You really are the
Son of God!” they exclaimed.”
Matthew 14:30-33 (NLT)

2. Following Jesus Means ACTION!!!
Now someone may argue, "Some people
have faith; others have good deeds." But I
say, "How can you show me your faith if
you don't have good deeds? I will show
you my faith by my good deeds."
James 2:18 (NLT)
You believe with your heart,
but you move with your feet.

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a
hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a
lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a
lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to
everyone in the house. In the same way, let your
good deeds shine out for all to see, so that
everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
Matthew 5:14-16 (NLT)
