Welcome to Fourth Grade!
 I will introduce you
to fourth grade and
to our classroom.
 If you have any
questions during my

All About Me
 My background
 I was born in Ohio and have lived in
Guam, Hawaii, Florida, North Carolina and
Northern California.
 My experience
 I’ve been teaching for over 20 years.
 I have also taught second, third and fifth
grades, but fourth is my favorite.
My Goals
 To give you the academic, organizational and
social skills you need to progress to fifth
grade.
 To provide a supportive and fun classroom
environment.
 To help you make new friends and discover
new interests.
 Learn to LOVE the computer.

 The subjects we cover during fourth
grade are:

Reading and writing

 We will be using our
Storytown Reading book
as well as
 A to Z Mysteries
 Magic Treehouse
 Stone Fox
 Night of the Twisters
Writing
 We will be learning the
6 traits of writing
 Narrative (stories),
 Summary,
 Response to
Literature.
Math
 Multiplication skills are a must!
 Division-short and long
 Learn geometric shapes,
Metric system as well as
angles,
area and perimeters.
 I LOVE MATH!!!
Science
 Ecosystems including
our beautiful coral
reefs
 Matter(S,L,G),
 Earth Science and
Science experiments.
Social Studies
 All about Hawaii
including
 Music(Ukulele)
 Dance(hula)
 History
Classroom Community
 Our classroom is a community. In our
community, we have rules to help us get
along with each other.
 Our class rules are:




Be respectful and responsible.
Be organized and follow directions.
Be on time.
Be prepared.
Homework
 I will assign about 45 minutes of homework
every night. This includes 30 minutes of
reading, Spelling and a Math review sheet
each night.
 All unfinished work will be brought home to
be completed and returned the next day.
 If your homework is not complete, you will
stay in at recess that day to complete it
Tardiness
 School starts at 7:45A.M.
 If you aren’t in the classroom by the
time the second bell rings, please
check in at the school office before
coming to class.
 If you are tardy four times, the school
will contact your parents.
Field Trips
Most of our field trips which are planned for this
year, support our Social Studies unit in
learning all about Hawaiian History.





