How to Register and Join Groups Ideas on how to link this with an Elog (Charles Plager) Let’s get a few Mentors to introduce themselves Open the floor to suggestions/comments

Mentors Program

Concept

Web Facebook of two dozen or more Senior US Physicists that have agreed to field questions and problems related to CMS physics analysis

More informal than posting to hypernews (which one?) or trying to dig up an e-mail address for someone specific

Mentors pre-identify themselves as being willing to field questions in different areas

Multiple Mentors will eventually exist for many topics, so the turn around time will be finite if a given individual is out of contact

Different time zones will be covered from West Coast to CERN and all those night owls

Provides an opportunity to easily cross boundaries on detector issues and physics issues

Is a potential forum for setting up a form of communication for multi-institutional analysis efforts

Summary and Feedback

   

We believe the Mentor program will bring about a new level of interaction between US CMS groups to bring isolated university efforts up to speed and to facilitate collaboration We view this as an evolving adaptive form of communication and welcome feedback on what is missing or not quite right We hope Mentors will be able to sign up soon and that many other people in CMS register to make use of this utility Let’s see where it goes
