UNU Strategy to Promote ESD
(EfSD Programme)
1. Advocacy and dissemination of ESD and DESD;
2. Promotion of regional centres of expertise on ESD
(RCEs) and their networking;
3. Strengthening of ESD activities of higher education
institutions in close collaboration with the Global Higher
Education for Sustainability Partnership (GHESP);

Decade of Education for
Sustainable Development
 UNU-IAS has established a Global Service Centre for
RCEs,
 RCEs from around the world and their networks will
constitute a global learning space for sustainable
development (GLSSD).
 The Ubuntu Alliance, the consortium of eleven
international research and educational institutions
agreed to support promotion of the development of
RCEs as part of a global learning space for sustainable
development.
 Envisioning of the awards for innovative, joint projects
of two or more institutions from different sectors.
