OBJECTIVES: AT THE CONCLUSION OF THIS
PROGRAM, THE PARTICIPANT WILL BE ABLE
TO:
Understand the functions of the APTA House of
Delegates (HOD) and the duties of the Texas
delegates
Review the candidates running for APTA offices –
Treasurer, Speaker, Directors (3 to be elected)
and Nominating Committee (2 to be elected)
Analyze current professional issues for the PT
and PTA at state and national levels
Discuss selected motions for Bylaw amendments
and Position Statements being considered by the
2014 APTA-HOD
PURPOSE OF A HOUSE OF
DELEGATES
Authority to determine policy
Amend/repeal bylaws
Amend/suspend/rescind standing rules
Adopt ethical principles/standards of conduct of
members
Charge the BOD to carry out actions on behalf of
the association
Modify/reverse BOD decisions
Elect association officers, directors, and
nominating committee members
