The Undeniable
Standard
Are we really sure God
intended for us to have an
inspired, infallible, inerrant
standard in our hands?
We Believe . . .
• In the verbal and plenary inspiration of the
original manuscripts of the Old and New
Testaments, which constitute the inerrant
Word of God.
• Although XXXXXXXXX does not hold to a King James Only
position, we continue to hold the widely-used King James
Version as the campus standard in the classroom and in the
chapel pulpit. The position of the University on the
translation issue has not changed since the founding of the
school in 1927. We believe in the verbal, plenary
inspiration of the Bible in the original manuscripts,
and we believe that God has supernaturally preserved
every one of His inspired words for us today. However, from
the Founder to the present administration, we have never
taken the position that there can be only one good
translation in the English language.

Westcott and Hort
• Westcott and Hort were responsible for the greatest feat in textual
criticism. They were responsible for replacing the Universal Text
of the Authorized Version with the Local Text of Egypt and the
Roman Catholic Church. Both Wescott and Hort were known to
have resented the pre-eminence given to the Authorized Version
and its underlying Greek Text. They had been deceived into
believing that the Roman Catholic manuscripts, Vaticanus and Aleph,
were better because they were "older." This they believed, even
though Hort admitted that the Antiochian or Universal Text was equal
in antiquity. "The fundamental text of the late extant Greek MSS
generally is beyond all question identical with the dominant
Antiochian or Graeco-Syrian Text of the second half of the Fourth
Century."85

We Believe . . .
• In the verbal and plenary inspiration of the
original manuscripts of the Old and New
Testaments, which constitute the inerrant
Word of God.
• Although XXXXXXXXX does not hold to a King James Only
position, we continue to hold the widely-used King James
Version as the campus standard in the classroom and in the
chapel pulpit. The position of the University on the
translation issue has not changed since the founding of the
school in 1927. We believe in the verbal, plenary
inspiration of the Bible in the original manuscripts,
and we believe that God has supernaturally preserved
every one of His inspired words for us today. However, from
the Founder to the present administration, we have never
taken the position that there can be only one good
translation in the English language.

• Westcott and Hort were responsible for the greatest feat in textual
criticism. They were responsible for replacing the Universal Text
of the Authorized Version with the Local Text of Egypt and the
Roman Catholic Church. Both Wescott and Hort were known to
have resented the pre-eminence given to the Authorized Version
and its underlying Greek Text. They had been deceived into
believing that the Roman Catholic manuscripts, Vaticanus and Aleph,
were better because they were "older." This they believed, even
though Hort admitted that the Antiochian or Universal Text was equal
in antiquity. "The fundamental text of the late extant Greek MSS
generally is beyond all question identical with the dominant
Antiochian or Graeco-Syrian Text of the second half of the Fourth

• Westcott and Hort were responsible for the greatest feat in textual
criticism. They were responsible for replacing the Universal Text
of the Authorized Version with the Local Text of Egypt and the
Roman Catholic Church. Both Wescott and Hort were known to

and its underlying Greek Text. They had been deceived into
believing that the Roman Catholic manuscripts, Vaticanus and Aleph,

criticism. They were responsible for replacing the Universal Text

and its underlying Greek Text. They had been deceived into

Westcott and Hort
• Westcott and Hort were responsible for the greatest feat in textual
criticism. They were responsible for replacing the Universal Text
of the Authorized Version with the Local Text of Egypt and the
Roman Catholic Church. Both Wescott and Hort were known to
have resented the pre-eminence given to the Authorized Version
and its underlying Greek Text. They had been deceived into
believing that the Roman Catholic manuscripts, Vaticanus and Aleph,
were better because they were "older." This they believed, even
though Hort admitted that the Antiochian or Universal Text was equal
in antiquity. "The fundamental text of the late extant Greek MSS
generally is beyond all question identical with the dominant
Antiochian or Graeco-Syrian Text of the second half of the Fourth
Century."85

We Believe . . .
• In the verbal and plenary inspiration of the
original manuscripts of the Old and New
Testaments, which constitute the inerrant
Word of God.
• Although XXXXXXXXX does not hold to a King James Only
position, we continue to hold the widely-used King James
Version as the campus standard in the classroom and in the
chapel pulpit. The position of the University on the
translation issue has not changed since the founding of the
school in 1927. We believe in the verbal, plenary
inspiration of the Bible in the original manuscripts,
and we believe that God has supernaturally preserved
every one of His inspired words for us today. However, from
the Founder to the present administration, we have never
taken the position that there can be only one good
translation in the English language.

• Westcott and Hort were responsible for the greatest feat in textual
criticism. They were responsible for replacing the Universal Text

and its underlying Greek Text. They had been deceived into

Westcott and Hort
• Westcott and Hort were responsible for the greatest feat in textual
criticism. They were responsible for replacing the Universal Text
of the Authorized Version with the Local Text of Egypt and the
Roman Catholic Church. Both Wescott and Hort were known to
have resented the pre-eminence given to the Authorized Version
and its underlying Greek Text. They had been deceived into
believing that the Roman Catholic manuscripts, Vaticanus and Aleph,
were better because they were "older." This they believed, even
though Hort admitted that the Antiochian or Universal Text was equal
in antiquity. "The fundamental text of the late extant Greek MSS
generally is beyond all question identical with the dominant
Antiochian or Graeco-Syrian Text of the second half of the Fourth
Century."85
