Spain origin of chocolate
Chocolate was first produced in Spain in 1528 by
Brother Aguilar; a monk that traveled to America
with conqueror Hernan Cortes from Monasterio de
Piedra (Zaragoza), where he blended Cocoa beans
with sugar, vanilla and cinnamom to make the
drink less bitter and suitable for European taste.
This original recipe was kept secret in Spain for
100 years, and consumed originally by the royalty
and high class only.
