Why
I want
to volunteer

Slide 2

My name is Diana-Adela
Ionita and I am from
Romania. Always looking for
new challenges, with a Major
in Journalism and
Communication and a Master
Degree in ‘Techniques of
Editorial Production for Print
Press, Audiovisual and
Multimedia’, with experience
in PR, advertising, media and
youth work, with great
computer literacy,
understanding and fluently
using Romanian, English,
Spanish and Portuguese, I
would like to use the knowhow I have gained and the
knowledge I have achieved
until now as a volunteer.

Slide 3

I dream out loud, colourfully and daring. I wanted to become a writer,
so that I could design with simple words a wonderful world for my
readers. Then, observing the harmony brought by truthful
information - even if heartbreaking or blissful - , I thought a job as a
reporter would fit my ambition of spreading the news from house to
house. Instead, I only wanted to receive a smile. Then, I would have
known that going all the way on the hardest road worth it.
Nowadays, I am a young freelance journalist and an active youth
worker. I still have great expectations and put things in motion in
order to achieve my goals.

Slide 4

I committed myself to
fight against
discrimination, struggling
for human rights,
advocating for active
citizenship and promoting
a culture of peace among
youths. My weapons?
Good sense of humour,
enthusiasm and
perseverance. I take risks
and learn from my
mistakes, seeing an
opportunity to develop in
every step behind and a
positive part in every
tough situation.

Slide 5

Journalism fieldwork has
reinforced my
determination, energy
and punctuality to meet
the deadlines and gave
me the chance to gain
knowledge on important
matters. My experience
as a reporter helped me
to communicate efficiently
even in crisis situations,
to make myself heard, but
also to listen, to feel the
pulse of what I see and
take advantage of my
investigative and
analytical profile by doing
a lot of research.

Slide 6

The various extra-curricular
activities I was involved in
were a great chance to
improve my teamwork skills,
and also assume
responsibility on taking
direction and working on my
own initiative. Together with
my colleagues, but also
individually, I got involved in
the development of
innovative projects,
perfected the ability to see
the whole and, equally, pay
attention to details, and
learned to recognize
problems and develop
projects to solve them.

Regarding the concrete outcomes of EVS experience my
expectations target:
• raising my awareness on important issues
• spreading a culture of peace and tolerance
• developing my skills in order to become a more active citizen

Slide 8

• Moreover, I am strongly
interested in benefit from this
intercultural meeting in order
to share experience with the
others and, nevertheless, to
build bridges between
different societies and
mentalities.
• I expect that, after EVS, I
would be more open-minded,
inspired and highly motivated
to continue my work and
assume more and more
responsibilities in my
community.
• I hope this experience will
help me in progressing in
both, my professional and my
personal life, as I will help
myself by helping others.

Slide 9

I am sure I will prove an asset to your team.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
Diana-Adela Ionita
