Instill software development management and control techniques Dorset Cereals (Food Manufacturer): Developed and implemented integrated marketing and production strategies that facilitated and supported a trebling of sales revenue Electronics Technicians Limited (Electronics Manufacturing): Identify and implement new production planning and processes Ecrebo (Point of sale systems): Develop a handheld based point of sale system Aspire (Staff training for nursery schools): Building an on-line learning environment Quattro Foods (Fresh and frozen foods): Extension of product shelf life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IalHGxYX7qk www.bournemouth.ac.uk 6 The Smart grant scheme supports SMEs carrying out R&D in the strategically important areas of science, engineering and technology. Three types of grant are available: • Proof of market - (max grant up to £25k) • Proof of concept - (max grant up to £100k) • Development of prototype – (max grant up to £250k) www.bournemouth.ac.uk 7 Businesses can claim up to £5,000 towards the cost of expert advice if they classify as a start-up, micro or SME . • The funding encourages businesses to seek out fresh knowledge that can help their business to grow and develop.
