Ⅱ. Scenic Spot Introduction
Forbidden City
The Palace Museum,
historically and artistically
one of the most
comprehensive Chinese
museums, was established
on the foundation of the
palace that was the ritual
center of two dynasties, the
Ming and the Qing, and their
collections of treasures.
Acrobatic Show
Chinese Acrobatics is one
of the oldest performing
arts. Its history can be
traced back to Neolithic
times. It is believed that
acrobatics grew out of labor
and self-defense skills,
which people practiced and
demonstrated during their
leisure time. The early
performance is "walking on
three-meter-high stilts while
juggling seven gaggers".
Then it developed into an
entire art form.
The Great Wall
The Great Wall of China
is called the "Ten
thousand Ii Great Wall" in
Chinese. In fact, it' s
more than 6 000
kilometres long. It winds
its way from west to east,
across deserts, over
mountains, through
valleys till at last it
reaches the sea. It is one
of the wonders of the
world.
Peking Opera
Peking Opera is a form of
traditional Chinese theatre
which combines music, vocal
performance, mime, dance and
acrobatics. It arose in the late
18th century and became fully
developed and recognized by
the mid-19th century. The form
was extremely popular in the
Qing Dynasty court and has
come to be regarded as one of
the cultural treasures of China.
Major performance troupes are
based in Beijing and Tianjin in
the north, and Shanghai in the
south. The art form is also
enjoyed in Taiwan, where it is
known as National Opera.
Temple of Heaven
As a masterpiece of the Ming
and Qing architectural art and
a precious example of China’s
ancient architecture, the
Temple of Heaven is the
largest architectural group for
worshipping Heaven in the
world. The Temple of Heaven
was the place where the
Emperors of the Ming and
Qing Dynasties would worship
Heaven and pray for bumper
crops.
Hutong Tour by Rickshaw
Hutong is a kind of ancient
city alley or lane typical in
Beijing, Where the number
of hutongs may run into
several thousands. They
are around the Forbidden
City, many of which were
built during the three
dynasties of Yuan, Ming,
and Qing.
Lama Temple
Yonghegong (the Lama
Temple) is the largest and
best-preserved lamasery in
Beijing. Built in 1694 it was
originally a residence for
Prince Yongzheng before he
ascended the throne. Later in
1744 his successor Emperor
Qianlong rebuilt and
converted the palace into a
temple devoted to the cult of
the living Lama.
National Center for Performing Art
National Center of Performing Arts is a unique
construction designed by French architect Paul
Andreu, with the giant silver dome to the west of
Tiananmen Square and hosts high-level art
performances home and aboard.
Summer Palace
The Summer Palace was
among the first group of
historical and cultural
heritage sites in China to be
placed under special state
protection. The Summer
Palace landscape,
dominated mainly by
Longevity Hill and Kunming
Lake, covers an area of 2.9
square kilometers, three
quarters of which is under
water.
Bird’s Nest (NatioNal stadium )
The Beijing National Stadium,
also known as the "Bird's Nest"
for its architecture, is a stadium
under construction on the
Olympic Green in Beijing. The
stadium will host the main track
and field competitions for the
2008 Summer Olympics, as well
as the opening and closing
ceremonies. Value of National
Stadium (Bird’s Nest) is equal to
National Aquatics Stadium’s. It is
also the new-rising landmark in
Beijing in 2008.
Water Cube (National Aquatics Stadium)
As a new land mark in Beijing, “Water Cube” took over
four years to construct the Olympic venue, .The project's
ETFE air cushion structures are the first of their kind to be
used in China and the largest and most complicated
membrane system in any single project in the world
Ming Tombs _ Dingling Tomb
The Ming tombs lie in a broad
valley to the south of Tianshou
(Longevity of Heaven)
Mountain in Changping County,
about 50 kilometers northwest
of Beijing proper. To the
southwest of this valley, a
branch of the Yanshan Range
suddenly to breaks off and
forms a natural gateway to the
40-quare-kilometer basin in
which the tombs were built.
This gateway is "defended" on
each side by the Dragon and
Tiger hills, which are said to
protect this sacred area from
winds carrying evil influences.
Thirteen out of the 16 Ming
emperors are buried in this
peaceful valley.
Dance Show
<Kwan-yin of HOLY Water>:
It is the most wonderful
representative of special offers
for each group from home and
