Snowdonia National Park

miles of diverse landscapes,
Snowdonia National Park is a
living working area, home to
over 26,000 people. As well as
being the largest National Park
in Wales, Snowdonia boasts the

The
Millennium Stadium
•
The Millennium Stadium is the national
stadium of Wales, located in the capital
city,Cardiff. It is the home of the Wales national
rugby union team and also frequently stages
games of the Wales national football team, but is
also host to many other large-scale events, such
as the Tsunami Relief concert, the Super Special
Stage of Wales Rally Great Britain, the Speedway
Grand Prix of Great Britain, and various music
concerts. It was built to host the 1999 Rugby
World Cup.
The stadium opened in June 1999, and the first
major event to be held was an
international rugby union match on 26 June
1999, when Wales beat South Africa in
a friendly by 29–19, before a test crowd of
29,000. With total seating capacity of 74,500, it is
the third largest stadium in the Six Nations
Championship behind the Stade de
France and Twickenham, which is the largest. It is
also the second largest stadium in the world with
a fully retractable roof, and was the second
stadium in Europe to have this feature.

Eisteddfod of Wales
• An eisteddfod (Welsh: [ə(i)ˈstɛðvɔd];
plural eisteddfodau [ə(i)stɛðˈvɔdaɨ]) is
a Welsh festival of literature, music and
performance. The tradition of such a
meeting of Welsh artists dates back to
at least the 12th century, when a
festival of poetry and music was held
by Rhys ap Gruffydd of Deheubarth at
his court in Cardigan in 1176 but, with
the decline of thebardic tradition, it fell
into abeyance. The present-day format
owes much to an eighteenth-century
revival arising out of a number of
informal eisteddfodau. The closest
English equivalent to eisteddfod is
"session"; the word is formed from
two Welsh morphemes: eistedd,
meaning "sit", and bod, meaning "be".

The
Highlands
•
The area is sometimes referred to as the "Scottish
Highlands." It was culturally distinguishable from
the Lowlands from the later Middle Ages into
the modern period, when Lowland
Scots replaced Scottish Gaelic throughout most of the
Lowlands. The term is also used for the area north and
west of the Highland Boundary Fault, although the
exact boundaries are not clearly defined, particularly to
the east. The Great Glen divides the Grampian
Mountains to the southeast from the Northwest
Highlands. The Scottish Gaelic name of A'
Ghàidhealtachd literally means "the place of the Gaels"
and traditionally, from a Gaelic-speaking point of view,
includes both the Western Isles and the Highlands.
The area is very sparsely populated, with
many mountain ranges dominating the region, and
includes the highest mountain in theBritish Isles, Ben
Nevis. Before the 19th century the Highlands was
home to a much larger population, but due to a
combination of factors including the outlawing of the
traditional Highland way of life following the Jacobite
Rising of 1745, the infamous Highland Clearances, and
mass migration to urban areas during the Industrial
Revolution, the area is now one of the most sparsely
populated in Europe. The average population density in
the Highlands and Islands is lower than that
of Sweden, Norway, Papua New Guineaand Argentina.

the Giant’s Causeway
• Situated on the North coast of Ireland in
County Antrim (about two miles north of
Bushmills, 11 miles from Coleraine and 13
miles from Balllycastle), the Giant’s
Causeway is an area of approximately
40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the
result of an ancient volcanic eruption;
however the legend is more convincing for

вторников, но не в среду и не в понедельник.
• Названия языков: English French German и т.д. Однако не
забываем про употребление определенного артикля с именами
собственными данной группы в присутствии слова «language»:
