ROMANIAN ACTORS By Alina Butoi-Drăghici and Patricia Tamaș SEBASTIAN STAN Sebastian Stan (born August 13, 1982) is a Romanian actor, known for his role as James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes / Winter Soldier in Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He played The Mad Hatter/Jefferson on the ABC's fantasy drama Once Upon a Time, Prince Jack Benjamin on Kings and Carter Baizen on Gossip Girl. He also appeared in Black Swan. In 2012, he appeared in the USA Network miniseries Political Animals starring alongside Sigourney Weaver. His role in Political Animals earned him a nomination at the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Miniseries. AS MARY IN “THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST” AS MRS. MOSCU IN “MISS CHRISTINA” OANA PELLEA Romanian-born actress Oana Pellea has won numerous accolades for her theatre and film work. Born in Bucharest in 1962, Oana studied at the Romanian Theatre and Film Academy before going on to star in numerous stage and screen productions. Most recently, Oana won the Theatres' Union of Romania's (UNITER) Best Actress award and was awarded the Romanian Cultural Foundation's Prize for Outstanding International Career. Her film work has included Bogdan Dreyer's "Where the Sun is Cold", as well as films directed by Alexandru Tatos, Dan Pita and Stere Gulea. Oana received numerous international awards for her leading role in Gulea's "State of Fact", including the Best Actress awards at the Geneva Film Festival, the San Marino Political Film Festival and the Golden Eagle International Film Festival in Batumi, Georgia. Oana's theatre work has also drawn much attention. Notable performances have included the roles of Masha in Chekov's "Three Sisters", Lucius in Shakespeare's "Julius Ceasar" and Maria in Georg Bûchner's "Woyzeck", all of which contributed to her winning the 1996 International Theatre Critics' Award for Best Actress. Other important stage roles have included Julietta in Klaus Mann's "Mephisto", Catarina in Mihai Maniutiu's production of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew", and Drussila in Camus' "Caligula". Her show went on, and so did the series of awards she got. In February 2003, the VIVA magazine designated her "The most Beautiful Romanian Woman" and in July the FHM magazine "crowned" her as "Sexiest Woman". In December, she was, once more, awarded by TV Mania as "The Sexiest TV Celebrity". In the meantime, she hosted the "Extravaganza" show series. 2004 began with a new challenge: "Viata in Direct" (Life Live) show. In February 2004, the "Viva" magazine designated her again as the "Sexiest celebrity" and in December 2004 she was, once more TV Mania's choice as "The Sexiest TV Star". In 2004, she went to Los Angeles to take acting classes and improve her TV host skills. Her career took a new turn: she started doing movies. In 2004, she got a part in a teenager comedy," Buds for Life" and by year end she received a role in her first Romanian movie, Moartea domnului Lazarescu (2005). In 2005, she got small parts in Incubus (2006) as Karen, in "Second in Command" as Dr. Johnson and in "Living&Dying" as Det Lascar. In November 2005, she got a recurring part in Naufragiatii (2004), the no.1 TV show in the United States, as Gabriella Busoni, a wealthy Italian woman.
