My presentation is about two of my favourite songs and lyrics.
I want to show you they have something in common.
The first song "Part of Me" is performed by a young
singer Katy Perry and was written by Perry herself. The
song is about a young girl who has a problem with her
boyfriend. The boy is not an honest one and the girl
decides to split up.
The second song "My Way" is presented by famous Frank
Sinatra (and lyrics by Paul Anka).
The lyrics of "My Way" tell the story of a man who is old,
and reflects on his life as death approaches.
Katy Perry starts her song with sad and nervous words:
„Days like this I want to drive away
Pack my bags and watch your shadow fade
… you chewed me up and spit me out
You took my light, you drained me down”
but …she concludes:
„That was then and … this is now. But you're not gonna break
my soul - This is the part of me that you're never gonna
ever take away from me”
She keeps her integrity and solves the problem … „her way”
Ladies and gentlemen, now listen to
the music and enjoy the rhythm and
the lyrics …

Frank Sinatra starts his calm and quiet lyrics with
apparently sad words:
„And now, the end is near,
And so I face the final curtain.”
but next he continues:
„I've lived a life that's full I've traveled each and every highway…
I did what I had to do and more, much more than
this,
I did it my way.”
Sinatra is comfortable with „his way” and the
challenges of life he faced. His soul keeps a respectable
degree of integrity.
Ladies and gentlemen, now listen to
the beautiful music, enjoy the voice of
Frank Sinatra and follow the emotional
and moving lyrics by Paul Anka …
And now, the end is near,
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I'll say it clear;
I'll state my case of which I'm certain.

I'll say it clear = ja powiem to jasno
regrets = ubolewania
a few = kilka
(too) few = (zbyt) mało
to mention = wspomnieć
I did what I had to do = robiłem to co
miałem zrobić
to have something in common = mieć coś wspólnego
integrity = uczciwość, czystość, prawość, także: zasady (principles), standardy
a man of integrity = człowiek z charakterem (z zasadami)
Keep your integrity intact = zachowaj (utrzymuj) swoje zasady, standardy
nienaruszone.
I want to thank my Daddy. Dad helped me with
manipulating text and pictures and with recording sound
and music in MS PowerPoint.
Also thanks to him I improved my English, I hope.
Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew,
When I bit off more than I could chew,
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall
