LED CONVERSION
With an extensive background in the design and manufacture of military
simulation instrumentation, LEDLite USA is uniquely situated to convert existing
area lighting to state-of-the-art LED. Based on the existing fixture, LEDLites
designs a custom reflector and heat sink to dissipate generated and ambient
heat to assure the LEDs fully meet their rated life. The design also provides the
precise ground lighting pattern, intensity and color requested by the customer.
The changeover is a simple matter of removing in place the existing interior
works and replacing it with the new LED lighting unit that installs with just three
wire nuts.

Marketing Advantage
World class partnerships with vendors/suppliers also contribute to the
company’s product reliability. LEDLites USA both leverages the technology of
suppliers and develops technologies and intellectual properties of its own.
Although LEDLites USA has the flexibility to use several different suppliers of
LED chips, it has developed special pricing contracts with primary suppliers.
Flexibility of design protects us from becoming someone else’s captive customer
with high pricing.
LEDLites USA is committed to building a leadership position in the commercial
Solid State Lighting (SSL) market through ongoing technology development. This
continuing improvement of the cost/benefit equation reduces the
commoditization of the market segments the company serves and preserves
high-margin returns.

Design & Manufacturing Advantage
LEDLites USA is building to be a market leader in LED light fixtures for both the
new and conversion sectors. LEDLites USA utilizes its superior knowledge in the
field of power supplies and thermal management as well as its modular
construction technology to be a leader the LED revolution in the LED lighting
industry. Employing a combination of partnerships with established
corporations, green building groups and relationships with federal, state and
local governments, LEDLites USA is poised to become synonymous with the term
"LED light fixture."
Our unique design approach gives LEDLites USA a platform for the Sun
Harvesting, Motion Detection and Light Level Selection options. These features
provide LEDLites USA with an economic advantage as the energy savings
afforded by these features can be significant – 20% to 30% above the normal
savings provided by any competitive LED light fixtures. These technological
advantages will be leveraged to the greatest extent possible.
LEDLITES USA
Competitive Advantage
LEDLites USA has a unique selling proposition as the first company to enter the
LED Lighting market with an extensive background in the design and
manufacture of power supplies and associated thermal management. For more
than 20 years, LEDLites USA through its parent company has been a leader in
the field of high-intensity LED backlighting for commercial illumination and
military simulation instrumentation.
The current manufacturers of commercial lighting fixtures are basically
assemblers of various metal, plastic and glass parts to form the fixture itself. The
bulbs are manufactured by a third party as are the ballasts used in fluorescent
lighting. There is no history of electronic technology these companies can refer
to in the development of LED light fixtures.
A key to the success of LEDLites USA is the performance and reliability of its light
fixtures due to its expertise in thermal management and power supply design.
LEDLITES USA
Key Goals
LEDLites USA uses its core skills in thermal management, power supplies,
system packaging, and design and manufacturing to develop and advance
technology for two key purposes:
To develop product solutions that maintain a leadership position over its
competitors based upon superior cost-benefit to its customers, as well as
greater product functionality.
To lower unit cost while maintaining the key domestic work-force through
the advancement of manufacturing & assembly technology & processes.

LED Lighting Advantages
• Efficiency: LEDs emit more light per watt than incandescent light bulbs. Their
efficiency is not affected by shape and size, unlike fluorescent light bulbs or
tubes.
• Color: LEDs can emit light of an intended color without using any color filters as
traditional lighting methods need. This is more efficient and can lower initial
costs.
• Size: LEDs can be very small (smaller than 2 mm2) and are easily populated onto
printed circuit boards.
• On/Off time: LEDs light up very quickly. A typical red indicator LED will achieve
full brightness in under a microsecond. LEDs used in communications devices
can have even faster response times.
• Cycling: LEDs are ideal for uses subject to frequent on-off cycling, unlike
fluorescent lamps that fail faster when cycled often, or HID lamps that require a
long time before restarting.
• Dimming: LEDs can very easily be dimmed either by pulse-width modulation or
lowering the forward current.

LED Lighting Advantages, Con’t
• Cool light: In contrast to most light sources, LEDs radiate very little heat in the
form of IR that can cause damage to sensitive objects or fabrics. Wasted energy
is dispersed as heat through the base of the LED.
• Slow failure: LEDs mostly fail by dimming over time, rather than the abrupt
failure of incandescent bulbs.
• Lifetime: LEDs can have a relatively long useful life. One report estimates 35,000
to 50,000 hours of useful life, though time to complete failure may be longer.
Fluorescent tubes typically are rated at about 10,000 to 15,000 hours,
depending partly on the conditions of use, and incandescent light bulbs at
1,000–2,000 hours.
• Shock resistance: LEDs, being solid state components, are difficult to damage
with external shock, unlike fluorescent and incandescent bulbs which are fragile.
• Focus: The solid package of the LED can be designed to focus its light.
Incandescent and fluorescent sources often require an external reflector to
collect light and direct it in a usable manner.

Government Legislation
Federal legislation includes the energy bill passed December 2007, confirmed
July 15, 2011, making most incandescent lighting prohibited for sale in stores by
the year 2012 in favor of Energy Star products which for lighting includes
Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs and LED lights.
CFLs have several drawbacks. Far more toxic (using mercury) than LED lighting,
discarded in a landfill CFLs leach methyl-mercury into the air and water with
disastrous results. For example, the amount of mercury contained in just 25
standard fluorescent lamps can pollute a 20 acre lake making the fish in the lake
unsafe for human consumption. Additionally, CFL emits ultraviolet radiation
which, of course, is associated with heightened risk of skin cancer.
LEDs are twice as efficient, have no toxic materials and do not emit any
ultraviolet radiation, compelling reasons to anticipate that LEDs will be the
lighting of choice as costs come down with the expansion of the market.

Tax Incentives
The federal Energy Policy Act of 2005 offers tax incentives to energy-efficient
commercial buildings. Any building that can cut its lighting power density by 2550 percent is eligible to receive a tax reduction of 60-cents per square foot. By
converting to LEDs, four times more efficient than incandescent lighting and
twice as efficient as CFLs, companies can reduce their light electric output by 80
percent. Not only do LED users see an immediate and significant reduction in
their energy bills, they also receive government endorsed tax incentives for
making their buildings more energy efficient.
Additionally, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 includes
billions of dollars that may be used for green building, retrofitting, energy
efficiency and renewable energy projects, including those in federal facilities;
states, localities, and tribal areas; schools; and housing.
