Arguments
• Clear all issues on spot
• Play the game first and complain afterwards

Before the game
Green booking
• Within 3 days after receiving approval mail or
confirmation
 If forget to book green, “Fail to arrive”
 If green unavailable,  repeat the rearrangement
procedure
• 4 hours as guideline for a match

Match day
• Matching uniform (bye-law 1.2)
 Proper lawn bowls shoes
 Shirts, under garment, jacket
• No practice on the match rink
• No grace period in public green
 30 min for private green
 arrive 15 min before schedule time

Venue and Equipment
• Venue setting – no challenge
• Game will continue if venue remains open
• Equipment provided by venue (jack, mat, score
board and groundsheet).

Draw
• Fill in all fields in the score cards
 Date, game ref, start time
• Names should be clear and matched with
computer records
• Draw procedure (bye-law 2.5)
 No change of player or line-up after the draw
 Choice on first jack delivery is by side

Trial end
• Not ‘Start of match’
• Two bowls per direction
• Mat / Jack can be set at anywhere
• Can use different set of bowls, play any hand

During the game - Scores
• Skips can delegate the score cards
• Update the scores every end
• Home side takes care of score boards
• Check the scores with opponents regularly.
Clear any dispute immediately

During the game
• Stop any bowls from neighbouring rink that
may danger your head
• Mark toucher before next bowl rest
• Burnt end replay – carry the bowls back
• No side coaching (except HKYDT)

Player movement
• Player position – behind the mat / head
• Restriction of player movement
• Possession of rink
• Double skip is allowed
• Leaving the green for emergency

After the game
• Skips should check the scorecards
 Scores, Player names, End time
• Sign both scorecards
• Keep one copy

Result capture
• Home side captures result within 48 hours
from start of game
• Away side verifies within 96 hours
• Check the data accuracy before hitting the
update/verify button
• If away side finds error during verify, email
to [email protected]

Scorecards
• NO need to submit scorecards after each
match
• Both sides have to keep the scorecards
until league season finishes
 Can be hard or soft copy
• May need to submit to HKLBA upon
request

Abnormal incidents Postponed games
• Typhoon No. 8 or Black / Red rainstorm
 game postpone
• Thunderstorm – mutually agree to play
• Try every effort to complete the end in progress
• If game postpones, both skips initial on
scorecards, same cards used in resumed game.

Postponed game arrangement
• Home side makes offers within 48 hours
• Valid offers – within 22 days, at least 1 prefer day
• Away side reverts within 96 hours from original
fixture, can make counter-offer
• If both sides fail to reach agreement, HKLBA will
assign a game date as home side preference

• Follow-up with opponent / HKLBA office
• Clash with national game
• Use of substitute and line-up





 Can play up, even at same division
 10 for premier, 5 for triples

• No Transfer between other clubs

 Play 3–3–2 in fours or 4–4 in triples
 25% less on gained shots
 One wood can be from a different set
 Latecomer join to play any position but not skip
 Select BLANK during result capture
• New player
 ‘*’ before his name in scorecard, email to HKLBA

 Deduct 4 points, arrange to play within 22 days

• League award – eligibility
 At least play 1/3 matches, maximum quantity
• For public green, if the game does not
complete, the subsequent game will wait
until it finishes
