plans for the Eastern Cape ECONOMY AND JOB CREATION, as well as his reference to the
state of RURAL- AND ARTERIAL ROADS in the province.
stance on the provision of RELIABLE ELECTRICITY and the role of GREEN ENERGY therein.
call for FISCAL DISCIPLINE and efforts at getting MORE VALUE FOR LESS MONEY.
proposed PARTNERSHIP WITH THE SPECIAL INVESTIGATION UNIT (SIU) to speed up
probes into corruption cases cannot be taken seriously, in view of the contemptible attitude the
president has towards SIU and other security agencies.
The premier said NOTHING ABOUT IMPROVING SERVICE DELIVERY IN THE
PROVINCE. He said nothing about MECS AND OFFICIALS WHO SHOULD BE FIRED if they
do not do their jobs.
Until CORRUPTION AND ACCOUNTABILITY is taken seriously, we will continue to have
more of the same where corruption erodes confidence, opportunity and service delivery.

Spirit of Ubuntu
In the Xhosa and Zulu languages Ubuntu means “people are people through other
people.”
The spirit of oneness, unity, love, peace and compassion, which expresses itself in a desire to help
others and includes everyone.
As Nelson Mandela explains, “The spirit of Ubuntu – that profound African sense that we are
human only through the humanity of other human beings – is not a parochial phenomenon, but
has added globally to our common search for a better world.”
