IDOT’s Division of Public and Intermodal Transportation
Mission:
Supports public and specialized transportation throughout Illinois by providing
technical support and financial resources to local governments, public and
specialized transportation operators, and rail operators.
Main Roles and Responsibilities:

Oversight and administrative management of state and federal funding for transit
and rail studies;

Administer several federal public and specialized transportation programs;
–
Provide financial support to transportation agencies and mass transit districts
throughout the state; and
–
Maximize the amount of federal funds received in Illinois for transit and rail
projects.
