Using the Custom GCS Library

Download Report

Transcript Using the Custom GCS Library

• Problem: Project requires a new
or updated GCS that is not part of
delivered library
• Solution: Use Bentley Map to
create new GCS (or ellipsoid or
datum) and share with all users
• Notes:
– The delivered library cannot be
changed or updated
– A user library should be created to
store any custom coordinate system
definitions
– Library can be used with any
MicroStation installation

Create Custom Geographic Coordinate System
• Copy seed GCS library from
Bentley Map coordinate system
folders to accessible location
– From: C:\Program
Files\Bentley\MapEnterprise
V8i\MapEnterprise\coordinate\seed\
seed.dty
– To: your project location. e.g.:
C:\Projects\EastCity\rsc\EastCity.dty
• Define variable to point to new
GCS library
• Save in workspace or Map project
MS_GEOCOORDINATE_USERLIBRARIES = C:\Projects\EastCity\rsc\EastCity.dty

Create User GCS Library
• Start Bentley Map using
workspace with GCS library
variable defined.
• In GCS dialog, see the entry for
the custom library
• To create custom GCS, copy an
existing GCS similar to new
GCS
• and paste into user library

To Add a Datum or Ellipsoid
• Custom GCS, datum and ellipsoids can only be created
with Bentley Map
• The resulting custom GCS library can be shared with
any MicroStation user by defining the variable to point
to the location of the custom library
• All names must be unique across the delivered and
custom libraries
• A DGN with a custom GCS will behave correctly even if
the library from which the GCS was defined is not
available
