 Congested Traffic on IH-35
 Population Growth has a negative impact on
transportation.
 Surrounding counties have population growth as
well. (see figure 1)
 Trucking and through traffic have increased.

IH-35 congestion.

Methodology
 Will use GIS framework to analyze/visualize the
Travis County IH-35 congestion problem.
 Will offer possible solutions to add to TxDOT,
Austin division.
 Will use joins, merges, unions, intersection,
buffers, spatial analyst, geocoding,
georeferencing, overlays, network analyst,
geostatistical analyst, and raster calculator
Implications
 Current projects in Austin area will be studied for
their effect on the IH-35 Corridor.




