Vad är det som växer på botten?
På båtbotten kan man hitta både djur och växter
Växter; tex olika typer av alger
Djur; tex havstulpaner och musslor
Vanligast förekommande är
havstulpanen. Havstulpanen är
ett kräftdjur vars larver strävar
efter att finna en yta som den
kan sätta sig fast på med hjälp
utav ett superstarkt lim.

Varför ska man bottenmåla?
• Säkerhet; En botten som har mycket påväxt blir svår att
manövrera, propeller och kylvattenintag sätts igen.
• Skydd; Kraftig påväxt kan skada båtens gelcoat, trä- eller stålyta
• Hastighet; Båten går betydligt långsammare med beväxning
på botten vilket bla ger ökad bränsleförbrukning.

Hård, ej smetande yta
Biociderna läcker ut ur färgfilmen
när båten kommer i sjön. Det blir
mindre och mindre biocider kvar i

Stora resurser läggs över hela världen på utveckling av nya mer
miljövänliga alternativ
Inom International arbetar vi för att ha bottenfärger anpassade
efter de lokala förutsättningarna
Detta innebär att bottenfärger för västkusten innehåller lite mer
koppar jämfört med de färger som säljs på ostkusten. På
ostkusten växer det inte lika mycket och bottenfärgerna behöver
därför inte ha samma effekt som på västkusten.

Dessa produkter måste dock tvättas regelbundet om man ligger
i vatten med beväxning, rekommenderas därför främst till
insjövatten och Bottenviken.

sk foulrelease produkt med en hal och glatt yta som används
på kommersiella fartyg

Mer än biocider att tänka på
Förutom biocider innehåller de flesta bottenfärger organiska
lösningsmedel. När dessa avdunstar ut i luften vid målning
bidrar de till växthuseffekten.
Inom International har vi som ett av våra mål att minska
andelen lösningsmedel i våra produkter.
Ett exempel på detta är årets nyhet Micron® Superior
Med hela 60% torrhalt innebär det mindre
skadliga lösningsmedel ut i luften.
