Welcome
Dear friends and colleagues,
A very warm welcome to the Capital of the Fjords!
It is our honor and pleasure to have you here during the
International Symposium on Controversies in Endocrine
Surgery and Translational Research.
The Haukeland University Hospital has a long tradition and high
expertise in Endocrine Surgery which is dated back to the early
1970-ies when Peter Heimann, one of the founders of the International Association of Endocrine Surgeons, established a Section for
Breast and Endocrine Surgery which was the first in Norway.
Endocrine Surgery is a developing and changing specialty.
During this conference we will discuss the chances for cooperation
with basic science (translational research), the future challenges
regarding competition with other specialties, and current controversies concerning diagnosis and treatment of diseases within the
field of Endocrine Surgery.
We hope you will enjoy a stimulating conference, our beautiful city
and the fantastic nature in our country.
Turid Aas, MD, Surgeon in Chief
Jan Erik Varhaug, MD, PhD
Michael Brauckhoff, MD, PhD
