• The Dragon personality The Dragon is a creature of
myth and legend. A symbol of good fortune and sign
of intense power, the Oriental Dragon is regarded as a
divine beast - the reverse of the malicious monster
that Westerners felt necessary to find and slay. In
Eastern philosophy, the Dragon is said to be a
deliverer of good fortune and a master of authority.
Therefore, those people born in Dragon years are to
be honored and respected.

Using Degree Adverbs with Adjectives

Try to use degree adverbs here!
すき／きらい
すき／きらい
• In English, like is a verb. However, in Japanese,
すき is a な-adjective. So, this means that you
can use these forms to modify nouns to create
sentences like the following:
Example:
すきなくだものはオレンジです。
きらいなやさいはレタスです。
すき／きらい
• Asking about X and replying that you like X
Example:
Ａ： バナナがすきですか。
Ｂ： はい、すきですよ。
Ａ： どんなやさいがすきですか。
Ｂ： にんじんがすきです。
すき／きらい
• Asking about X and replying that you don’t really like
it.
Example:
Ａ： にくがすきですか。
Ｂ： にくはちょっと… or にくはあまり…
Note: Make sure to link the
object of what is liked
with が! Do Not use を!
As in バナナをすきです。

Start with the ～ます form：

You have ticket to go to some event. Figure out
what that ticket is and ask your friends if they
want to go. Search for someone who has the
same ticket as you. Sit down when you find
them. Your conversation should be something

Activity:

become the post office worker and the other the
customer. Ask for the item (i.e. はがき ２０) on
your slip of paper, using a similar dialogue as
written below. When you have completed the
dialogue, switch roles.
Note: When you are thinking and need extra
time, say: ええと.
When you are beginning to speak to a stranger,
use あの (it is like ‘um’)
