T he Association of Compliance Managers (BCM) is the leading network for compliance managers and compliance officers of companies, associations and organisations. The BCM acts as a stakeholder for the profession of Compliance Managers, representing the interests of its members and communi cating these interests both internally and externally. The BCM promotes a cross-sector exchange both within the association and beyond its own horizons in order to positively contribute to the professionalisation and standards of the profession, as well as to develop the public perception of the profession.

F O U N D A T I O N

In early 2013, eight compliance managers from different sectors deci ded to initiate an association that would take a stand over the concerns of their relatively young profession. On February 15th, the Association of Compli ance Managers (BCM) was founded as an association exclusively for in house compliance officers and managers. Since then, the BCM has grown in prominence and relevance also as a result of the increasing complexity of today’s compliance landscape. Our members operate both nationally and internationally and face the daily challenging regulatory environment in different cultures.

N E T W O R K

A few thousand individuals from different industries deal with compli ance issues in Europe. The BCM provides a forum for full-time compliance managers in companies, associations or organisations. The association supports its members with relevant working groups and promotes the development of a clearly-defined professional image both within compa nies and in general public. The BCM aims to ensure an excellent exchange of knowledge and experience: thus, members have the ability to develop concepts for the positioning of the profession in relation to media and so ciety through this network and the help of the association.

S E R V I C E S

The BCM provides its members with exclusive services which en hance the exchange of information within the association. The range of information channels is broadly diversified: from online media such as newsletters, the BCM website and intranet, to print publications such as service brochures and studies. The BCM also hosts various business events, coaching days and wor king group days. The Compliance congress is the annual highlight of the asso ciation’s activities, where in-house compliance managers and other experts from business and politics get together. Cross-sector para digm in the field of compliance are put under focus and new ideas are discussed with the aid of a wide selection of pre sentations, dis cussions, best cases and interdisciplinary workshops.

What I like about the BCM is the exchange with compliance experts. You can discuss ide as on issues in order to possibly find solutions or new ideas which stay in this confidential cir cle of people. Please carry on!

Sandrine Pommey

Airbus Group Compliance Manager I am one of the first members of the BCM. Why ? Very simply: from the beginning I was convinced that the BCM is the platform which allows an exchange of knowledge and experience in compliance across all sectors of industry. I want to point out that the BCM also provides the possibility to get involved in specific working groups and to share ex periences. What I also like is the exclusive ness the BCM provides for in-house compli ance managers, ensuring that the exchange is always practically relevant and reward ing..

T he BCM provides its members with different platforms for the ex change of opinions, experiences and knowledge. The association brings compliance officers from all sectors together and promotes their interconnection. With the help of six regional and working groups, the BCM creates structures enabling an exchange of experiences across company and sector boundaries for members on a regional level, and at the same time ensures the external communication and formation of opinion about compliance issues internationally. The six regional groups offer members the opportunity to contribute their knowledge and experiences directly to the BCM and to actively participate in the development of the association. Moreover, members of every regional group are supported by a local con tact in the person of a regional working group leader. Several times a year, members from different sectors come together in their respective regions and discuss current compliance issues. In doing so, the BCM aims to ex pand its regional network in order to support the cross-sector exchange among compliance peers.

T he BCM’s working groups ensure the ability of the association to campaign by developing and discussing specific topics. The groups act as think tanks that facilitate a high level of exchange and debate the most innovative and cutting-edge developments. Externally, the groups communicate on these topics via journals and pre sen tations at con gresses and conferences. Furthermore, it is their task to work towards a higher level of standardisation and qualifications around the topics they discuss. By making the results of their work acces sible to the members of the entire association, the groups enable all members to benefit from their knowledge and expertise. Heads of the working groups constitute - along with the chairmanship and the regional group leaders - the exec utive board of the BCM, which meets at least once a year to discuss each groups‘ focus areas and objectives, as well as members’ suggestions and requests. Heads of the working groups are elected for two years on a vol untary basis. All BCM members are invited to join one or more working groups.
