LAKE GRIFFIN HARBOR NEWSLETTER
ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION
By Paul Rauch
We had a very nice golf cart parade and
party on December 18th. There were 35
decorated carts from LGH and Lakeside, the
most I have seen since I have lived here.
Winners were very hard to choose, but the
judges picked the following:
1st Bob and Jane Currie
2nd Ron and Jean Grosche
3rd Ray and Carolyn Sczimkowski
Thanks to Mike and Diane Alred for serving
as judges.
This will be my last article in the Harbor
Highlights as President of Activities. I would
like to thank all of you who supported the
Activities Association in their efforts to make
LGH a fun place to live.
Please check the calendar for upcoming
events.
That’s all…………

All residents of LGH must be members of
the Activities Association in order to
participate in Association-sponsored park
activities. Some of these activities are
Bingo, Bocce Ball, Horseshoes, and
Shuffleboard, among others. Membership
also entitles you to reduced-rate tickets to
our many dances/parties.
The cost is $6.00 per person for the whole
year. Your 2014 membership is no longer
valid after January 31, 2015.
I will be selling memberships at Coffee &
Donuts on Saturday morning and before
Bingo on Tuesdays during the month of
January. If you are unable to get to the
clubhouse on Saturday morning or Tuesday
evening, you can fill out this form and bring
it with $6.00/per person to my house – Lot
#259. Just put them in the basket on my
front railing. Make checks to LGH Activities
Association. Form follows in back to

We allow RV’s to stay overnight in the
parking lot but we appreciate if you can
move them to the compound as soon as
possible. Please can you always come to
the office to alert us what vehicle you are
leaving.
For any future requests for calendar dates
please contact Lucy West. She will be
overseeing the calendar. If you want to have
a private function, please come to the office
to discuss and collect a contract from us.
There is also a deposit of $100.
Thanks to all of you who have come into the
office to get your gate code. The cards are
now working; although if you are happy with
your remote or using a code, you do not
need a card. We will start to phase out the
remotes since they are now so expensive to
replace.
There isa Town Hall Meeting with Bob
Young of the Blair Group scheduled for
January 19th at 6 pm. Please notify your
HOA committee of your questions prior to
this
Apologies for the mess at the horseshoe
courts. We had a major breach in an
underground pipe which made us tear up far
more than we wanted to. The pipe is now
fixed but we need to get some sod and
finish the courts for the season.
I very much appreciate all of you who have
let me have upto date email addresses.
There were a lot of changes with the trash
and it was so much better to send out a bulk
email to update people. I am still getting at
least 20 email returns so if you think I have
an old address for you then please come
and update me.
Any questions please contact me at
[email protected] or come along to the
office.

A special congratulations to Bob Curtis who
scored a Perfect 300 game in the 9-Pin NoTap tournament… Way to go, Bob.
The 1st place team for the fall session was
The 4 Amigos… John Gratton, Ralph
Kniepkamp, Judy Curtis and Bob Gifford…
Congratulations!
The winter 2015 session will start on Friday,
January 9, 2015. Remember that on the first
week you have to pay for the first and last
weeks of bowling. The cost is the same, $11
per week, whether you are a 12-week or a
24-week bowler. Subs again will pay $6,
with the team member paying the difference.
There will be a bowling meeting on
Wednesday, January 7th at 3 PM in the
clubhouse. Please try to have at least one
team member present for the meeting. If
you have not signed your team up for the
winter session, be sure to do so before the
meeting. There are now team sign-up
sheets in the blue 3-ring bowling binder in
the clubhouse. If you are not on a team, but
would like to be, come to the meeting as
there will most likely be teams looking for
members to round out their 4 member
roster. Or if no places are open, you can
sign up to be a sub.
50/50 raffle winners for weeks 10 through 12
Shuffle time is getting close. It doesn’t
matter if you have been on Santa’s “good”
or “bad” list. All our shufflers are gifts.
We have four full teams of sixteen players
each. The only openings are Monday
afternoons or Wednesday afternoons.
Remember, you need groups of four for a
team.
Some of us are accomplished players and a
lot of us are still learning. But we always
have fun. If you want to play but can’t
commit to a team, we ALWAYS need
substitutes. There is a sign-up sheet in the
clubhouse if you are interested.
Don’t forget our meeting of all shufflers on
Friday, January 2nd at 10:30 AM in the
clubhouse to discuss the schedule, choose
captains for each team and get volunteers to
help with court preparation.
Your committee, Carole Kniepkamp, Sue
Blanchard, June Walley, Pat Ananias, Pat
Meszler, Diane Alred and scorekeeper,
Janet Patenaude.

JANUARY 2015
THANK YOU
I wanted to thank you so much for all of your
support and acts of kindness on my loss.
Mike Jackson was an awesome man who
always had a huge smile on his face. I was
so very lucky to spend the time with him that
I did. We did such a lot in a short period.
He loved fishing, his Harley, cooking,
running, red wine, the deaf community,
hunting, Alabama football, being a
grandfather, his wonderful children, his
family & me.

We would like to send out our heartfelt
thanks to everyone who have sent cards
and words of encouragement while we
recover from our recent accident. This is yet
another reminder on what a great
community we live in.
John & Barbara King
Many, many thanks to all who sent cards,
prayers and visits while I was hospitalized.
They helped so very much in my recovery.
A very special thank you to Ralph & Carol
and Jim and Carol for all of their help, that is
the true meaning of our neighbor-toneighbor policy. I am now home and feeling
better than I have in several years.
Betty Huebner
I would at this time like to give recognition to
Priscilla Curtis and Linda Cranmer. They
helped me put the poinsettia plants in the
ground. They also decorated the entrances
with garland and ornaments, and did a very
good job.
Thank you, Lenny Lombado
To Those of you who may not have received
a card or flowers, please accept my apology.
To all residents, if you have a friend or
neighbor who is ill or lost a loved one,
please notify me so the Sunshine
Committee can respond.
Thank you
