INFRASTRUCTURE
300Mbps redundant/diverse Internet connection
 SUNY Oswego Intranet
 Email and web servers
 Approximately 70 other servers supporting other
departments and campus applications
 Telephone system
 Generator and battery back up for emergencies

INTERNET ACCESS…ResNet
ResNet - campus network in the Residence Halls
 Each residential room is equipped with a
network jack that allows students to connect
 Student machines must be up-to-date to access
ResNet

Latest security updates
 Anti-virus software
 Cisco Clean Access product is used for this purpose


McAfee Anti-Virus software is available to all
students at no charge
INTERNET ACCESS…WIRELESS
Wireless network access is
available in most academic and
public gathering spaces
 Hot spots include:

Penfield Library
 Campus Center
 The dining halls


Wireless network access spaces
are designated by the wireless
logo
COMPUTER LABS
Public computer labs are located in Penfield
Library, Snygg, Mahar, and Campus Center
 Many departments have specialized labs
 Computer labs also located in certain residence
halls – Hart, Oneida, and Scales

PRINTING
Available in all of the computer labs
 Students are allocated a print quota of 500 pages
per semester


Additional printing can be purchased
Color printing is available in specific labs
 Printing to the public and residential computer
lab printers is also available from the residence
halls and wireless network

EMAIL
SUNY Oswego email address are provided to all
students
 Address format:

Required to use many of the technology services
on campus
 The most common means by which faculty and
staff communicate with students
 Forwarding service is available to students
already using a different email account



myOswego is the College portal for “taking care
of business”

ANGEL is the Learning Management System
used by SUNY Oswego faculty for posting
classroom material online

CAMPUS EMERGENCIES
SUNY Oswego is subscribed to a service called
“NY Alert” from the State Emergency
Management Office (SEMO)
 Students opt-in and specify how they wish to be
contacted of campus emergencies

