History of the
INEE Minimum Standards
•
Developed in 2003 – 2004, updated in 2010
•
Developed and updated by over 3,500
educationalists from over 52 countries
•
Based on the Convention on the Rights of the
Child (CRC), Education for All (EFA) and the
Humanitarian Charter
•
Are now companion standards to the Sphere
Standards
•
Mainstreamed 11 thematic issues:
protection, psychosocial support, conflict
mitigation, disaster risk reduction, early
childhood development, gender, HIV and
AIDS, human rights, inclusive education,
inter-sectoral linkages, and youth.
How have the INEE Minimum
Standards been used?
Global Usage of the INEE MS in 110 countries worldwide
(data from the 2012 INEE MS Assessment Report)

humanitarian response
