Background on the AD project
Status on migrations
Migration process
 Makes the ‘stack’ of services possible – supports
integrated Microsoft and third-party applications.
 Enables UNM IT to provide and manage enterpriseclass directory and system management services that
are reliable, scalable and secure.
 Provides consistent support and implementation of
university security and system management
standards.
 Reduces total cost of ownership for UNM by
eliminating duplication of services.
Active
Directory
 Enables UNM departments to redirect resources for department-specific
needs.
 Enables effective delegation of authority.
 Allows for collaboration between UNM departments by utilizing a common
toolset.
 2007 – IT Agents requested one Active Directory
for UNM.
 2008 – AD Committee was formed. AD Project
started.
 2009 - Pilot migration was completed. AD
