1984 BOOK JACKET
STEP ONE
Read through the excerpt from the book, 1984
to give you a glimpse of what a totalitarian
state looks like.
Take notes as you see fit, but please do not
write on the class set.
STEP 2
Design a book jacket for 1984. Use colors and images that capture what
life is like under a totalitarian regime. Your book jacket will need to
include the following:
1. Title and author (use the real ones)
2. A description of the book. (this can be brief – three to five sentences is
perfect)
3. Create two reviews or quotes about the book. These are your own creation.
4. Finally, include colors and images that depict life in a totalitarian state. (This
can be from the book, or just your knowledge of totalitarianism.)
