I can evaluate the importance of each vignette in order to demonstrate my understanding of identity. I can apply literary devices within in my writing. You will be in two groups, completing 2 different tasks in order to meet both parts of the DLT. When the timer beeps, please continue with the remaining DLT. DLT #1 I can evaluate the importance of each vignette in order to demonstrate my understanding of identity. To meet this part of the DLT, you will need to: Read the remaining vignettes in this section (pages 21-25) Discuss the literary devices that are used in each vignette Discuss how each vignette is addressing identity Remember: environment, community and neighborhood can all influence identity. Also, discuss those pieces of identity that are permanent and those that you can change. Answer the reading check questions on your own paper to ensure your understanding. DLT #2 I can apply literary devices within my own writing. Yesterday we wrote our own vignette based on a physical trait. Today, write a vignette about a childhood friend. Think of a friend and explain how knowing this person or experiencing something with this person has influenced your identity. Title your vignette with the name of your friend. Don’t forget to include literary devices within your writing. Include at least 4 literary devices (simile, metaphor, imagery, alliteration, or repetition). DON’T FORGET TO HOLD ONTO ALL WRITING ASSIGNMENTS. WE WILL BE PUTTING THEM ALL TOGETHER AT THE END OF THE NOVEL TO MAKE OUR OWN COLLECTION OF VIGNETTES. (This includes homework writing assignments) Formative Assessment Please tell/show me or Ms. Wade: How one of the chapters express an identity? How you used a literary device in your writing? Why are these important?
