“Equipping the Warriors for War”

• The Principles of
Spiritual Boot Camp
I.
Discipline - Too many Christians
desire to get involved in ________
action
 without first submitting to the
discipline
 _______________
necessary to
equip the Warrior for battle.
 ________
30
II. Dependency
In spiritual warfare our goal is to join God
never
in defeating the enemy. We must ______
forget
in ________,
ourselves have
_________
that we, ___
no power to defeat Satan.
“Not by might, nor by power,
but by My Spirit, says the
Lord of Host.” Zech. 4:6
31
III. Direction
Submit
Resist
Draw Near
Cleanse Your Heart
“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and
he will flee from you. Draw near to God and
He will draw near to you. Clean your hearts…”
James 4:7-8
32
• Lessons for Spiritual
Boot camp.
Lesson #1
SUBMIT TO GOD -
•
Submitting to God is the first lesson of
Spiritual Boot Camp. Christians who
obey God
are not ready to ______
unconditionally are not ready for
______________
spiritual
warfare
______________
___________.
33
“Now by this (obedience) we know that we know
Him, if we keep His commandments.” 1 John 2:3
34
“For this is the love of God, that we keep His
Commandments.” 1 John 5:3
35
Lesson #2
Draw Near To God
•
Drawing near to God is the Second
Lesson of Spiritual Boot Camp. Our
personal _______
prayer ________
life
_________
barometer used to
is the principle __________
measure the quality
________
________ of our
relationship with God.
36
Drawing near to God
Requires the following
disciplines:
Time
Attitude
Fasting
Cleansing
Format
Quality
37
Time –Drawing near to God requires time. When
we are motivated to pray, the first and most
important self discipline is to set aside blocks of
time to enhance our personal relationship with 38
God.
Attitude Developing a strong personal prayer life
is essential to preparing for Spiritual
Warfare. When we dedicate time to
enhance our relationship with God, our
obedience
attitude changes from _____________
joy
to _______.
There is nothing that will make your prayer life
more enjoyable than to hear God speak to your
heart!
39
Format Dr. Peter Wagner suggested that one
of the most effective formats to pray
Lord’s
Prayer
is the __________
___________.
“Our Father in heaven hollowed be
your name, your kingdom come,
your will be done on earth as it is
in heaven. Give us today our daily
bread. Forgive us our debts, as
we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one”
40
Matthew 6:9-13
When Jesus was praying in the garden, just
before His death, He asked His disciples to
pray with Him. When He went back to
check on them He found them sleeping.
Matt. 26:38-41
41
Quality of prayer usually
quantity
follows __________.
Joy
____ in prayer begins to
quantity
develop as both _______
quality increase.
and ________
42
43
Fasting and Prayer
Fasting is just as necessary as prayer
when we seek to draw near to God
Fasting involves an
intentional practice of
self denial. It opens us to
God and draws us near to
Him. “To the degree that
fasting becomes a norm in our
day-to-day Christian life…we
will become more effective in
our spiritual warfare.”
(Peter Wagner)
44
45
Cleaning your hands and purifying your hearts is
an important step in Spiritual Warfare.
Jesus
said:
“Clean your hands, you sinners;
clean your hearts, you double
minded.” James 4:8
46
Concerns what you do!
Concerns what you think!
47
